well here goes ... i have threatned to post pics of the system i made and well here it goes.heres the link...well i think http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i253/louisypher/IMG_0819.jpg so ya its built for spl..an rattled the crud out of the 97 toy reg cab its in but man i had to sorta scrunch a bit to drive...price you pay i guess...unfortunately the subs are dead...lead finger on the volume...and i just dont care for audiobahn any longer. by the way beneath where the amps are mounted there are 4 channels for the sound to expand in (stole the idea from bose) and at last db check with a cheapie tester it hit around 153.2 not that i beleived it but you couldnt drive with it turned up past mid-way without earplugs.next on the project books.. a blow-through box ,as the truck is a long bed and destined for droppage and baggage for future shows, dont see many t-100s lowered... well never have actually.well i have babbeled on enough...laterGRIN

So where are the sides of the enclosures? or am I looking at it wrong?

Cheap Meters can read WAY off...sometimes as much as 10dB or more depending on the Mic.

TermLabs are the most accurate and consistant. =)

Still I'm sure it was loud for daily. Clean up the wires!!!!

no those are 3/4 inch plexiglass sides. these were pics of the testing install(turned into the ..im too lazy to finish it...ill do it tomorrow) maybe this pic will help Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket , yeah if i remember it was a schoche (spelling?) bought from wallyworld. loud it was..i am a stone installer and it would vibrate small stacks leaned against the rear of the bed..lol. so sad i fell to the beauty of bahn, cause sadly chrome doesnt make it reliable.am thinking of going with a pair of these http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=270121556275&rd=1&rd=1 ever heard of them?

Ive heard of cadence, but never have seen then in the SPL lanes. At least not at the ones I've been to.

Whats your budget? And current power available RMS?

louisypher on 05/31/2007 00:49:26
well iam gonna start over with the amps as bahn i like not for nada.lol. cause i am thinking of going w/ a mono block of at least 1000 watts rmscause all the mids and tweet are taken care of so i would say for amp ....250 -300$ and subs around the same...now keep in mind i have a wife ..so i may have to buy in peices but buy i will. am also thinking of going for at least 1 ohm cause it offers more possibilities , or it seems.

30Hertz on 05/31/2007 07:24:57
So 250-300 for 2 drivers right? I''m assuming your going for SPL correct?

find some dual 4ohm subs and run a bxi1206 which can be found for less than 250$ or bxi1606 for less than 300$

well i was hoping for a single amp,of around 1000 watts rms. the brutus looks good. now my question is ,running at 1 ohm will be more or less of a stress on my electrical? you see i am running a stock alt(to be changed in the future) while the kinetik power cell cured the dimming from the two a8002 bahn amps at 4ohm, i dont want to damage anything from extreme draw, i assume that would happen from a massive amp but would it be less from 1 ohm in comparison to a 4ohm?

newB on 06/1/2007 00:52:25
you will get higher current draw and more dimming @1ohm.

i just installed my d4ohm TC9s and am giving them 1600rms with a redtop and 75amp. granted it handles everything fine at low to moderate volumes. its frustrating because when i play it "LOUD" for a few second the volts drop to 11 but i dont keep it there.

how big is your alt?

tough call..its stockv toyota 4-banger is all i know..theres a local company that is highly reccomended for rebuild so if it comes to it i will go there...sadly it will run around 300$ but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. i gotta say tho i am really impressed w/ the kinetik power cell. hmmm so if i could find ,say 6 ohm subs w/ amp to match, i would be better off?

newB on 06/1/2007 01:27:46
my first question would be where your going to find a 6ohm sub!
lol

There are a few SQL subs out there with 3-6 ohm coil sets. These are often very expensive too. (Like the W7 series from JL Audio)

In this case, you may be better off with the H.O. ALT and stick to amp/sub combos that max out at ~1000 watts RMS. A well designed Class D amp will draw about 80-100 amperes at full power and this will most certainly strain a stock electrical system. (Even with the "Big 3" wiring upgrades)
