Which version of Type R subs do you have here? (2+2 DVC's or the 4+4 DVC's?) This amp will only handle a 2 ohm load or higher.

Also, what gage wire are you using to feed this amp off the battery and ground? (A #4 wire is the smallest gage that should be used for this amp. (Power and ground wires)

Additionally, try dialing back on your amp gain settings a little. If the amp gain is set too low, (say under 1.5 volts) this will often cause the amp to reach full power well before the HU reaches it full output. That will cause the amp to behave this way too.

If you have excessive light dimming at high bass levels, a few upgrades may be in order here:

1. Big 3 wiring upgrade

2. Your battery may be getting old and needs to be replaced with a high output version like an Optima or Kinetiks 1000 CCA, Cold Cranking Amps) rated version

3. Have your charging system looked at by a reputable autoparts tech. If it does not reach proper charging voltage and current output, it may be time to replace it

Adding a Stiffening Cap is only of minor help. For about the same money as a 2-5 Farad Cap, a stronger battery, (Higher reserve current) is the better choice here.

You're most welcome!

That battery is on it's last legs by now. Most OEM batteries last 4-5 severe winters or perhaps 6-7 years in moderate climates. In the meantime, readjust your gains. That should solve the immediate problems noted.
