Is there anyone that can give me a simple yet detailed way to add the front speakers to an amp... i already have 2 subs connected to an amp but now the bass drowns out the music like crazy.. so i want to add 2 speakers to a seperate amp, i dont know if anyone has a diagram or something that can explain step-by-step Replies (7) swez on 05/28/2007 06:48:24 This link will provide a step by step video on how to install new Componet speakers in the front doors. There is a small segment at the end of the video about amping the speakers with an outboard amp. The 2nd link shows a video on how to install a 2 channel amp for speakers. In your case, you may want to consider a stronger 4 channel amp for powering front and rear full range speakers. http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-rzO5NWLfEjJ/learningcenter/car/speakers_component_video.html?movie=component_speakers&format=wmv http://www.crutchfield.com/learningcenter/car/amplifiers_movie.html?format=wmv After you have watched the videos, if you have more questions, just ask. Swez newB on 05/28/2007 13:49:54 there is the right way. and there is the fast way. im by no stretch of the imagination saying this is good, or the right way, but it is a possible way. when running to your doors, rather than re-running all the speaker wire. get behnid the HU and find the wires leading to the doors and splice speaker wire into it- then just run the speaker wire back to the amp. its faster and easier but not the right way to do it. -Drew swez on 05/28/2007 15:23:22 No, that's a very acceptable way to run speaker lines and that is often what I do... stock factory wire is often #16 gage and it is very fast and easy to tap off the HU speaker harness lines. Just one thing though, you have to disconnect the speaker output wires from the harness that feeds back to the HU internal amplifiers. If not, it will damage the HU amps permanently. Swez newB on 05/28/2007 15:27:05 ah yes! i forgot. cut those babies off. and im glad thats an acceptable way to run them. i dont feel so bad for doing it then =P GRIN -Drew swez on 05/29/2007 12:52:08 Yeah, it's a good shortcut and most Pro installers use this method when possible. The main thing is to cut the speaker power lines from the amps and splice after the HU harness. If we forget to do that and just tap/splice, the HU amps will be damaged from back feeding power off the amps. FYI: I have found it OK to bundle REM, speaker lines and RCA's together on one side and power lines on the opposite side of the car. There is no noise issues this way when the HU and amps are grounded properly and amp gains are set correctly. I have not tried it yet, but have read articles about running the speaker cables on the same side as the power feeder line. (Too little space on the RCA side to fit speaker wires) The trick here is to wrap the speaker lines in a spiraling braid method. This is easily done with a drill motor and 2 pair of speaker lines that are twisted by the drill to form a nice coaxial spiral of wire. Just tape them every 2-3 feet so they are easy to install. If you try this out, do not button up the trim hardware unti the system is tested for noise. Leave extra speaker line available too. This allows one to move the speaker lines to a different location, (Deep under the carpet and well away from the power line if needed) Got all that? Swez newB on 05/29/2007 23:49:44 of course!
