The subs and amp got here to me in one day from thezeb, the amp kit I'm still waitin on. I couldn't wait so I made a temporary box for one of my subs, it's bigger then it should be for a sealed box, but it works good enough for testing. The amps remote line I didn't have since I'm gettin that with the kit, so I made one with some speaker wire and found a place in the fuse box that wasn't used to hook it to. The ground is just in front of the right back seat. That's workin good no noise at all. I still need to put a nut on the other side of it though. I already had a power cable running from the battery for my inverter so I used that. I think it's 3 8-9 guage wires I put in parallel to the positive. The alternator and battery are actually workin, my alts workin really hard no doubt which I'm gonna tone it down till I get the car I actually wanna trick out and all, just messin with the Blazer for now. I'm able to put out enough for the amp, but I'm thinkin that's takin away my acceleration, alot. The sub's easily twice as loud as the four I had in there, and I'm only using one of em. The other one is sittin right beside it with no box yet FROWN. I went to a car audio place somewhat close and I'm gettin a box made that's about 6.5 cf. A little much then I would like, but the speakers call for 5cf min. This would mean deeper bass right? Only bad thing is I'm paying $209 for a box.... I'll have that either tomorrow which I'm hoping, or Wednesday. One thing I'm wondering though, there's a remote bass control that comes with the amp. Does that override the gains? Or would it add to them? I haven't tested that yet, but with the HU half-way and the remote bass max the sub moves 1-1 1/2 inches excursion. I haven't run into any problems yet thankfully. I wish that kit would come in though because I need to put the circuit breaker on it and maybe even the fuses while I'm at it. I don't think the lights are dimming, even though I don't have a cap yet. Eventually I'm gonna look for a 3 farad cap. That or a 6. It's all coming together though. The one thing that really bothers me is if this stuff gets stolen. That's easily $2000 down the drain. I'm thinkin about gettin an alarm system in there. I really need to get the stuff insured, that's gonna cost extra, FROWN. This is a bit long but I just thought I'd say it's goin good for me so far. Can't wait for that box. COFFEE for now though. As for the remote bass control. it could override the gain settings or just adds bass boost... de[pends on the design of the amp. Swez accusedmonk on 08/18/2003 17:16:47 It's an extra bass boost, I recieved the amp kit and was installing the new ground wire and adding the 140 amp circuit breaker. Since I was gonna test it I just messed with the gain on the amp it wasn't overrided so I turned the remote down the HU up to half and the gain to about half then adjusted the bass from the remote. The only ghetto thing hooked up now is my RCA cable. Two on each end connected with round telephone cable. I'm not gettin any noise and it's right next to the power cable, so that's good for now I guess. If it works no use in buying one right now. Swez on 08/19/2003 07:35:59 Oh... save your money on the CAP.... invest that in a power upgrade for your electricals. A larger battery is #1, larger wires between ALT/BAT and BAT/GND will also help. If your lights begin to dim or the system seems to be starving for more power... then an ALT upgrade is your last option. Swez accusedmonk on 08/19/2003 09:07:22 The Optima Red Tops holdin out on me pretty good. It's 980 ca, 800 cca. There was one in Auto Zone, over 1000 ca, but if the guy workin there wasnt just trying to sell a higher priced battery, the Optima has deep cycle characteristics so it'll last longer. I think the alt is workin really hard though to keep up with the current draw because I can't accelerate for crap lol might just have to turn down my system until I get going :(. I'd like to get a larger better alt, but that's over $100 down the drain unless the next car I'm actually plannin this stuff for will take it. I don't think the lights were dimming yet, but the sub is in a really bad enclosure right now, which I made. I'll retest to see if they dim when both are hooked up in an actual nice enclosure.
