well that didnt work out too well...lol..so i killed two audiobahn hi excursion tens and one a8002t amp, still had the other. thought to myself...self..(.thats what i call myself when talking to myself) lets put those old concept 12's in there ,well if from 99 is old, nonetheless, away i went in a fury, only pms survivors understand, not that i have pms ,as a guy,but i have witnessed hiroshima-like destruction at the hands of such. voila.. it worked, and beautifully , if only for a half day,as this eve i drove home ,annoying the crud out of everyone ,to be sure.....SILENCE....... did i blow a fuse???nope...kill the amp???????nope...well i dunno...but i think companies should pay ME to test their stuff, cause i could show em a thing or two on d-u-r-a-b-i-l-i-t-y, i can see it now....you think you have tough stuff? just give me"five minutes alone.."to quote pantera.anywho its time to "grow a pair" as far as my system, cause audioban is pretty much dolly parton...all bust ...no balls!!!! any suggestions on some really high quality -amps subs-whatnot...high quality meaning (strong as a porta-potty in the sahara) worthy of a deaf madman.. i am willing to starve the dog on this one....or...just buy em peice at a time, just kinda tired of these nancy companies selling a name and not the product...well i have ramble on long enough...thanks in advance for your input.. that was one helluva rant you pulled there....anyway...plenty of subs out there that are durable enuff....but as ive learned the hard way a couple of times...it all depends on how you match your equipment ,,,as well as how you play your music,,,...that being said....i have never blown or come close to blowing a type r .....even though ive clipped em because of my amp and settings....but still worked as new.....so i like the alpine type r....its decent price.....but im sure others will have some useful advice so stick around.

OK, now that the mountain has popped its top off, (Mt. St. Helen) what is your desired goal for the new gear? (Obviously durability, reliability and the ability to take some extreme abuse and come back for more)

How much space do you have for the enclosure here? Are we thinking dual 12's or perhaps a strong 15"? There are several SPL subs that can do some serious bumpin, but prefer large ported enclosures. (Our in-house SPL guy.... 30 Hz.) would be a good source for ideas.

Also, how many amperes of current can your vehicle handle w/o biting the dust? This factor is important and most SPL guys know the need for strong power supplies to feed monster amps.

Say more to give a good "Big Picture" view of your next bass engine. Alpine R's are very good SQL subs and can handle a solid 500 Wrms per each. However, for serious SPL, they may not be the right animal in your rig.

PS To borrow a quip from Red Green... "If it ain't broke, you're not tryin hard enough" !!! SMILE
