i just brought a 2006 kia spectra ex.im installing two amps and sub plus mid etc.the problem im having is that i connect the pre amp to the rear left speaker from the factory stereo.i cannot plug the jacks fully into the preamp,it would not play.but if i pull it out slightly, i would play.dut the jacks falls out with vibration.am i doing the right connection to the factory unitor do i have to change the head unit// Replies (3) swez on 05/20/2007 00:42:25 Most guys will use Line Out Converters, (LOC's) at the stock HU to drop speaker level voltages down to RCA Line levels. This is not too difficult to do if you can remove the stock HU easily from the dash and hide the LOC in the dash pocket. I don't fully understand your comment about the preamp jacks. They do need to be fully seated to ground properly. (RCA connection hardware style) If the grounds are not fully seated, noisey signals or hum problems are typical. Say more please, Swez benspectra on 05/20/2007 09:06:18 i always buy aftermarket hu,but this time i did not.as such never use locs. b4.can i get it say, at radioshack.also, with the jacks,if fully seated, i get no signal.i have to pull them halfway out, then i get signal.i thought the the rca jacks were faulty, use new ones, same prob.luckily i got no noisey sigs. or hums. cplkittle on 05/21/2007 11:08:24 It sounds like you are tapping into the wires before the amplifier and they use either a common ground or a chassis ground. This would explain why the RCAs work when they are only plugged halfway in. Try tapping into the speaker wire itself, between the amplifier and the rear speaker, and use a LOC. If I had to guess I would say that right now, you are using RCAs and you cut one end off to get a preamp signal, and plugged the other in to the amp. Sometimes this works, but the newer cars are getting more and more difficult to integrate with. A LOC is your best bet here. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
