adjusting gain to suit splitters

Hi i am running a kenwood kdc w7031 headunit which has 2 sets of preouts, i have a kenwood kac 859 amp which needs 3 inputs front, rear and sub, i bought a pair of splitters for the rear rca's and was wondering if the signal would be weaker to the amp meaning i would have to adjust the gain to compensate for this, the preout voltage is 2.5 i was presuming that with the splitters it would drop to 1.25 each so i would need to adjust the rear and sub gains acordingly, hope someone can help, malc

Actually, when we use splitters, (Parallel wiring) the voltage is the same to both legs of the splitter. But, it is dependant on the amps' input impedance per channel too. You may find that a few simple adjustments on the amp gain are all that is needed to match things up to par. Most amps can get to full power with as little as 1/4 volts of input, depending on your gain settings used.

Hope that helps,
Swez
