I just bought a brand new car, 2007 Elantra. Since there is no after market stereo for this car yet, I want to install an amp myself. The only question that I have, the speakers are installed in the doors. How do I run speaker wires from the amplifier to speakers? I have a converter which I know gets installed from the radio. Do I just connect the exising wire harness to the converter or do I run wires?

here's what you do:

find the four sets of speaker wire behind the radio. cut them in half (eight wires all together). install the line out converter on the side of the wires that run into the factory radio wiring harness, that will be your RCA signal. the sides of the wires that were cut AWAY from the radio will run straight to each speaker, so run those to the amplifier for the speaker outputs.

doing it this way will guarantee you will have a proper fade / balance setup with the new amplifier installed.
