we think my subwoofer box is about 1 cubic ft to big then what the manual recommended. have not tryed to test the box to scared that my subs would blow .thank ya'll always know what to do. Replies (10) 30Hertz on 05/5/2007 03:56:37 More information would be nice.... Dimensions of enclosure (height x width x depth) Makes and Models of subwoofers You can usually add wood to an enclosure (cut up 2x4's) to take up more displacement to lower the overall internal ^ft but first lets make sure your box is to big. JMEZY on 05/5/2007 17:41:28 height x width x depth 16x 24 x34 i think that around 3.4 cubic ft the manual says it should be 2.4 cubic ft help please dont want to spend 250 on a box. oh my subs are two mofo ''12'' trunkisloud on 05/5/2007 19:37:47 the subs will handle less power and probly hit the low notes better...is this box ported or sealed?? i once ran two punch p3's in 5 cubes which is way bigger than specs say...it hit the lows like crazy.,..lacking around the mid and high...but you arent goin that big so i dont think you box is oversized enough to worry much. id love to hear how those mofo's sound ...ive been eyeballin em for a while. jamesp on 05/5/2007 19:54:59 If those numbers are outside measurements and you have a single 3/4" divider board in the middle, your box has 2.99ft^3 per sub less the displacement of the subs themselves Are the dimentions the outside numbers? swez on 05/5/2007 20:04:54 If using 3/4" MDF board, this enclosure is 8.86 cubic feet internal. That's really huge for a most dual 12's ported. I could see this as workable for something like Kicker subs, but not too many other subs would do well in this size box. Swez jamesp on 05/5/2007 21:07:59 External dimentions= 16x24x34= 13056 cubic inches/ 1728 = 7.555 cu/ft right? I deducted 1.5" on the LxWxH and another .75" for a divider board 14.5 x 22.5 x 31.75 = 10358.4/1728 = 5.99 what am I doing wrong? I have been doing calculations all day long studying for my lab exam Tuesday...feel a bit crosseyed and in need of an adult beverage or 3. swez on 05/5/2007 21:58:07 Oh boy, I used the wrong numbers when calculating this box. (My Bahhhddd) Hum, asleep at the wheel here huh? I used 2 different box calculator sources and each gave the same number. (6.14 ft^3) I used 3/4" as the wood thickness. If a divider panel is used, the numbers will change. I may have MEGO my boy... (My Eyes Glazed Over) Try this calculator: http://www.bcae1.com/spboxnew2.htm Yeah, a 40 Ounce jug-o-beer sounds pretty good right about now. Have you ever tried Steel Reserve 211? It's a medium-bodied Lager with a very good kick too. (8.1% by volume) Not too much bite on the wallet either. Sells for ~ $2.50 in a 40 oz bottle. It's definitely a sipper's type brew. When tying flies, listening to some tunes and fiddling with other stuff, all is well until half empty. By the time it's a "dead soldier", (Empty bottle) it's time to go in the house and go to bed. Guess I'll go make some new poppers tonight and stop for a Steel 211 before I get started. Cheers mates, Swez jamesp on 05/5/2007 22:29:12 Swez, I spun up some deer hair poppers a few years ago. I never got good enough at doing it to get the really densley spun on bodies that the pros get. It takes a good bit of practice to spin deer hair. They floated well but were not very durable. I did some pretty good epoxy flies, well actually crabs and shrimp and some closed cell foam and cork bodied stuff. I used to really enjoy tying flies . The Steel 211 sounds good. I havent seen that one around here. I have a few silver bullets around though. Ash on 05/6/2007 07:13:21 Yeah I got tricked into one of those 211's once! Too strong for me and just one at that..... swez on 05/6/2007 09:10:34 James, yep... those hair bodied poppers are neat, but tough to tie and not very robust. Have been working on cork and sty-foam bodies since last season. The pan fish love em and bass will whack em good when you least expect it. Am also thinking some foam like spiders and ant patterns may be a nice addition too. Have some ideas on body shapes, but cutting them precisely seems to be a bit of a challenge though. (Die jig might be best) Need to practice on a few and see what comes out. Ash, like I said, 211 is a "sippers brew" and have a bottle of cold water on hand when real thirsty. Otherwise, this brew can make one fall off the stool when a nature call hits... SMILE Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
