Alpine Type R's

Currentlt I am looking for a new sub to replace my old JLW0's (powerwedge box from about 3 years ago) mainly to save space in the trunk. I don't need anything real expensive and was looking at the Alpine type R's, mainly to match the same model 6.5's I bought earlier this year. Also I was going to use a sealed box unless someone recommends oherwise.

Lastly it will be powered by an old RF 360a2 (I know this means I will have to buy the 2ohm dvc model)

Thanks for any advice

I have 2 alpine type R 10" dual voice coil woofers in my truck in a sealed box they shake my car as hard as i can handle.. and they are really clear. i dont have a box specificaly made for them but if you get a sealed box made for there specs they sound even better. for the price in my opinion they are really great speakers.. also you can get a set of them off ebay for 200$. well i hope my opinion is helpfull

Yes, Alpine type R's are pretty solid SQ/SPL subs. You might also compare them to Infinity Kappa SVC, 4 ohm or even the Adire Shiva 12" DVC.. (4/8/16 ohm style) At $125.00 each, a very good sub as well for SQ and SPL. Can take ~650 RMS whereas the others mentioned are ~350 RMS.

Do you know what the internal cf of the wedge box is? I installed a pair of Shiva's for a guy last Fall and find a 1.0-1.25cf sealed to be just about right for the Shiva Mark III.

what are the specs on that RF amp, i cant seem to find them anywhere...

The RF amp is a 360x1 at 4 ohms or 180x2 at 2 ohms, 90x2 at 4ohms. It's the old punch line from about 4 years ago. Although it suppossedly 360 watts, if I remember my paperwork correctly it was bench tested at just under 500 watts before I bought it. First and only sub amp I've ever used, and have definetly got my money's worth out of it.

So unless anyone says otherwise it seems as if the Alpine R's are a pretty good way to go. Thanks for the help.
