will it sound that diff if you have 2 difff amps hooked up but the same in rms to 2 subs woofers? i have 2 mofo subs 2400 watts 1200 rms hooked to a mtx 1501D 1500 rms and a 8 fared cap and home built box it's huge. it knock's so hard i just dont over do it dont want hurt the subs or my ears. they shouldnt blow right? Replies (4) trunkisloud on 04/16/2007 22:05:34 you have control over the power.....its when you dont have enough power that it becomes dangerous.....if its bangin hard enough to worry you then good...that means you can take it down a notch and still be safe...as far as two different amps i dont think it would be a good idea..stick with what works and it seems that what you have is working. 30Hertz on 04/17/2007 15:23:34 Running two amplifiers to two different woofers is fine. A lot of people do it. Theres no reason that it would sound any different as long as you tune both amplifiers the same. If your running two subwoofers off a single amplifier that doesnt supply the RMS power needed to the subs then you could run into a problem of clipping the amplifier. If you tune the amplifier correctly so it will not reach the clipping point at the highest volume level you use on your head unit then you'll be fine. The problem people run into is buying an amplier that does not supply enough power for the sub and they dont bother to tune it. If your listening to dynamic music (rap, bass music) and your amplifier can not produce the RMS output it will begin to clip to try to supply the power. (A stable signal is a full sine wave, a clipped signal looks like a box cut in half if that makes any sense). Subwoofers and amplifiers die from clipping. A subwoofer can take more power than is reccomended as long as its CLEAN power, the minute you clip it you can get in trouble. As long as your tuning your amplifier so its not clipping, then you'll be fine. Might not get as loud as it could if it was getting the full RMS unclipped power but at least if your tuned correctly, you wont blow or fry anything. -30 trunkisloud on 04/17/2007 19:14:36 my bad i was under the impression that he was meaning 2 differnent model amplifiers..... 30Hertz on 04/17/2007 21:15:49 If their of a comparable build quality and the same RMS then it still wouldnt make a difference. =) Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
