I HAVE A 94 NISSAN MAXIMA INSIDE I HAVE A 1501D MTX AMP 1500 RMS ,2 MOFO ''12'' 1200 RMS SUBS,AND A 8 FARED CAP IS THIS TO MUCH POWER FOR MY AMP? A GUY AT A AUDIO STORE SAY'S IF YOUR AMP IS 1500 RMS YOUR SUBS SHOULD BE AT LEAST 1000 RMS.AND AM I MISS ANYTHING MY FRIEND SAID I DONT NEED A EQ IS THAT TRUE? THANKS Replies (3) cplkittle on 04/15/2007 21:32:55 Having an EQ will not determine whether or not your subs will work. It is all about preference. You will need to use either the radio's crossover and sub sonic filter, or the one on the amp. I would say that you should have one 1501D MTX am for each sub. Right now you have a 1500 watt RMS amp and the two subs together want 2400 watts RMS. One amp per sub would be a better match. What you have now will work just fine as long as it is set up correctly and you do not push it to the point of distortion. What kind of radio or head unit (HU) do you have, and what is the model number, and what kind of box are the speakers in? swez on 04/16/2007 00:36:01 Major electrical upgrade pending here to power the amps. Be ready to drop some major cash. Swez PS Lose the Caps button too... that is considered shouting in these here parts... Good luck on your system. Kittle will lead you through the steps well. MrBrownstone on 04/16/2007 13:10:42 There is nothing wrong with 1 amplifier for both subs. The ratings on amps and subs are to give you an idea of what they are capable of, and what they'll tolerate. the MOFOs: can operate well at 600W each, so no need for 2 amplfliers...however, box design is the biggest limiting and enabling factor in subwoofer performance. Let's start by detailing what equipment you have, and work on the installation from there. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
