Finally got my Gel Cell battery today, and after many hour of shopping around, I got a great deal ($100) on an Optima Red Top.
This thing is sweet! I could tell the difference by merely starting the car. It started with about half of the cranking time. Then I turned on the system, and there was a notable diference in loudness. On the freeway, this thing helps accelleration so much that in places I used to have to floor it for a downshift, this thing just picked up and let me loaf up the hill while accellerating.
It is rated at 800CCA and 1000CA. this is a nice 250-amp and 350-amp gain, respectively. Plus it has terminals for top and side mount, so it works nicely using my stock connectors with side mounts, and using the top mount for accessories as well as my alternator cable.
It's not quite dark yet, but I will find out if it effects the horrible diming issues I was having. Coming soon: a nice High Output alternator to accompany it.
