so i scored this LANZAR MXA282 from my bro today to run my pioneers in the hyundai....its a cheapie but its movin the subs very well...theyre bangin hard enough to make your chest feel funny...its rated at 1650w rmsx2 at 2 ohms...is this possible?? it sports 2 35amp fuses....i dont know much but i do know that this amp is way overrated and theres no way these subs are gettin this power..anyone know a ballpark on the actual power?? im running it at 2ohms on 2 pioneer TSW306C/DVC. Replies (8) 30Hertz on 04/12/2007 00:16:23 not possible with 2 35 amp fuses. That Rating their giving is most likely for max pwer..not RMS. I'm not a fan of Lanzar in the slightest but they work for some people. trunkisloud on 04/12/2007 00:19:24 http://www.tundraelectronics.com/cart/pages-productinfo/product-233/lanzar-lanzar-mxa282-2x-channel-amplifer.html that is the "specs" on this amp.... 30Hertz on 04/12/2007 00:40:10 Well, some Companies over-rate their Specs on power. Lanzar is one of them =). Lets break it down: Class D amplifiers run at lets say >85% effeciency (mono amps) while Class A/B amplifiers run at 50-65% efficiency. Since this is a 2channel amp, this falls into the Class A/B: 'Lets just figure for amperage draw at RMS. 2000watts of power x .65 (efficiency) = 1300watts of power extra just to make that 2000watts RMS. It takes power, to make power. 2000+1300=3300watts. 3300watts/13.5 (charging voltage) = 244amps of draw to create that TRUE 2000watts of RMS power. With only 2x35amp fuses (70amps total) it is not possible for the amplifier to produce the power it states. Hope that makes sense. Dave, if you could double check my math on that since its been a looong time since I've used it CLAP -30 trunkisloud on 04/12/2007 00:53:42 im not doubting you one bit...like i said its definately way overrated.........but it works...until the autoteks come in. 30Hertz on 04/12/2007 01:18:24 Yah I know, I was merely showin the math and explaining how no way it could produce the power. If it works, it works =) Whens the Autoteks comming? swez on 04/12/2007 10:23:50 Chances are this Lanzar will top out at between 500-600 Wrms when bridged to a 4 ohm load. That's enough power to feel the bass. Current draw and max power look like this: 14.4 volts x 70 = 1008 watts input side of the amp. The output side would be 1008 x .6 = about 605 Watts bridged, 302 watts/channel @ 2 ohms/ch. (Realistically, I would expect about 500 Wrms from this amp on the output side tops) Not bad at all power wise, but not even close to how Lanzar bogusly rates their amps. We can confirm the actual power a given sub amp is putting out by reading the voltage and knowing the ohmic load of the sub(s). 30 Hz, your math is good. Lanzar amps are not rated honestly, nor are they the most reliable or robust amps out there. Yes, they work. But don't compare them to a solid brand name amp as they are not all that. Swez trunkisloud on 04/12/2007 19:35:47 ok but can we agree that the optidrive series is decent...for lanzar. swez on 04/12/2007 20:41:30 It was the best one they ever made as far as I recall.
