im looking for a single 10in sub and amp for around $400 i have a 2000 chevy s10 zr2 HU= eclipse cd3000 Replies (19) swez on 04/11/2007 23:17:49 What power range and level of bass/SQ quality are you looking for here? Are you looking at a ported or sealed 10" sub? It's doable and perhaps you can talk to 30 Hertz about his overstock. gear. That JL/250/1 is a nice amp. You may like his offerings. Just exchange personal e-mails and discuss off site. Comments? Swez trunkisloud on 04/11/2007 23:19:32 ohh man......you can get so many good things with 400 bucks..... trunkisloud on 04/11/2007 23:20:04 hey swez does 30hz have an online store and if so whats it called swez on 04/11/2007 23:25:20 No, he's a long time Cker and we have talked many times. Jason is a man of his word and if he has a product you want, set up a personal e-mail converation. He'll give you the ins/outs and you can decide if this is for you or not. I would do business with 30 Hz if I had a need and he had what I desired. 30 Hz is a straight-up kinda guy!!! Take it private OK... Swez kirchatndftbl on 04/11/2007 23:26:27 ported box so i can pick up better lows when listening to rap and hip hop but i listen to almost everything and i dont wanna miss notes from country and rock songs using a 12in sub i like the way 10in subs hit quicker im was thinking of a good sq setup with decent spl power range - i dont really have a preference but i dont want to have to do many electrical upgrades right now since my money is limited due to the purchase of this new truck im not sure about the stock alternators output so im going to have to guess on what my extra amps of power are right now with the stock electrical swez on 04/11/2007 23:33:24 A JL Slash 250.1 is a sweet bass engine that is not over-powering and can run a wide rage of sub loads at rated power. When paired with an efficient woofer and ported enclosure, you can bet on clean bass, but not so much that it over-powers mids/highs. If I were looking for a bass engine of moderate power, great performance and very reliable, JL would definitely be a consideration. You can take that any way you wish. Swez kirchatndftbl on 04/11/2007 23:37:36 yea jl is nice what subs would you reccomend with that amp?? what about this?? sub http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7977_Hifonics+BX10D4.html or http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_2527_Rockford+Fosgate+Punch+P310D4.html amp http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6471_Alpine+MRP-M650.html trunkisloud on 04/11/2007 23:40:30 thats a nice amp..but i was wondering about the sub myself for personal choice. 30Hertz on 04/12/2007 00:24:17 I would go with Alpine of the choices listed in the above post for an Amplifier ir your looking for that RMS rating. As far as subs go, I wouldnt really reccomend going with the RF or the Hifonics. I would reccomend going with something more along the lines of a Alpine Type R or something of the like. However, they are low efficiency subs and to get the most from them, a 500 watt amp is best. Infinity makes some very good SQL subs that are rated at 300/350 Wrms. These are more efficient as well. Take a look at efficiency number for each of these subs. Alpine rates at 85dB @ 1w/1m. Infinity is 92/93dB respectively @ 1w/1m. That's something to consider when using modest power amps and low/high efficiency subs. (88dB SPL@1w/1m is considered average eff.) http://www.crutchfield.com/S-NLriLcyTFLA/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=520&I=500SWR1242 http://www.crutchfield.com/S-NLriLcyTFLA/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=520&I=1081252W http://www.crutchfield.com/S-NLriLcyTFLA/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=520&I=108K1227W Swez kirchatndftbl on 04/12/2007 14:07:12 another question can anyone offer advice on disassembling the dashboard on a 2000 chevy impala?? i have unscrewed the screws in the fuse holder area and above the sterring column but cant seem to get the dashboard to pop up to take my cd deck out 30Hertz on 04/12/2007 19:24:37 I'm not very familiar with the 2000 Impala, but generally in order to get to your HU you only need to remove the center front portion of the dash. Take out your ash tray and look for any screws under there to remove. Also if you can, remove the AC/Heating knobs and remove the front plate (the piece that shows hot/cold, on/off, floor/defrost/etc). Both of these generally just pop off. Once removed look back to see if there are more screws holding in the front center of the dash (IE. under the dash, in the glove compartment etc etc). Once your sure there are no more screws, gently start pulling on the center section and start working your way around corners. Be carefull not to break anything. You should start to feel it give a little and just work the clips out. Most newer cars dont utilize many screws, most of the time there is only like 3 screws, the rest are clips. One of our other guys like Kittle, TTOCS or UK can probly give a little more information on this particular model. -30 jamesp on 04/12/2007 19:49:34 Here is my bass engine,as recommended by Swez, this amp will put out over700 watts @ 2 Ohms. The Alpine type R really thumps when you give it what it needs. I have a 130 amp alternator and a big batterry in my truck and another RF 450.4 amp for the front and rear channels and no problem at all with the electrical system. These amps dont even get warm. I love it. 1 p6001bd-RED-BOX Rockford Fosgate Punch P6001bD (RED BOX - 2005-06 MODEL) MonoBlock Punch Series Class BD Amplifier $177.77 $ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 swr1242d Alpine SWR-1242D (TYPE R) Dual 4 ohms Type-R 12" Subwoofer $99.99 $ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 1sl1210-black Sonic Sub Box: 1SL12-1.0 (BLACK CARPET) Single 12" Sealed MDF Enclosure $24.99 $ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 05ki21 Kicker KI21 1 Meter (3.3 ft.) 2-Chan. I have seen them elsewhere for this price.....JamesP swez on 04/12/2007 20:08:17 The Alpine Type R sub was a very good chioce for JamesP's install as he has a strong amp and it's well able to bring this sub to full excursion. Note: He said it can deliver a clean 700 Wrms to a 500 Wrms sub. Plenty of power to get the Alpine up to full potential. A lesser amp, (One under 300 Wrms) can still sound good, but not give this sub all it needs to obtain peak performance. Swez jamesp on 04/12/2007 20:20:18 Swez, exactly. You gave me a 300 watt amp option using the Inifinity subs you linked above..If I had known my alternator was only 130 amps, I might have been afraid of the bigger sub amp but fortunatly it worked out great. The only time I get any dimming at all is with something like those looong loooow sweeps on something like a Bass Mechanics recording.lol..I showed my wife one night in front of our house and really cranked it up, she started trying to talk and it came out of her mouth in staccatto bursts...she jumped out, walking to the house shaking her head, thinking that her husband of 20 years had lost his mind...She may be right. swez on 04/12/2007 20:40:01 Oh come on Jimmy... she knows you like a book by now and knows you lost your mind after the kids came into the picture... LOL But, she loves you anyway... even with a few loose lug nuts, we can still be very useful. From one loose lug nut to another... I wish I had such a thing a number of years back to silence the whalling babies and a very chatty, (I say chatty to be very kind) more like a naggy/B***ching wife. (not yours... but mine sure was) Jeeze I miss her, but not that much. It's kinda nice to take a long drive out the ol fishing hole w/o someone yappin' in my ears the whole way and no volume knob to shut it off... LOL Now you know why I am single again... for a reason huh? hehe O sweet peace and quiet, HAPPY Swez jamesp on 04/12/2007 21:11:38 Well, I certainly got better than I deserve in that department. I have called from the road on the way to Florida to her Im going to be fishing a few days. She has never complained when I come home with a new toy or two, even when I came home with a Corvette when she was pregnant, smooth move on my part. I think I'll keep her. swez on 04/13/2007 05:40:02 Yeah, she's a keeper all right. Anyone who doesn't get miffed at a Vette showing up in the driveway when she's pregnant, has got to be a rare gem. Am guessing the in-laws are probably gems too. Good fruit does not fall far from the same good tree. My twin brother has an excellent wife and great in-laws too. They have worked very hard at their marriage of 20 + years and I see some very good things happening there, even when times are difficult, she pitches right in there with him at work and at home. They are wonderful couple to be around. I respect that a great deal and hope to find a similar arrangement down the road too. They have excellent communication skills and discuss everything before making a big decision. I actually admire them... if you can't tell already.
