hey man you have a lesabre as well right??? well im tryin to decide.....say you have a 12" woofer and a 15" woofer...both with matching specs.....in a buick such as this....would 3 12's be better than 2 15's??? im goin ported box on this one around 28hz.......?? Replies (5) swez on 04/8/2007 21:32:52 Yes, I have 92 LeSabre and right now, am doing nothing to it but drive. It's the winter beater and work vehicle only. The truck is pretty large, so you can do any number of sub combinations and have a pretty loud boomer in the trunk. If you like deep bass and lots of it, the 2 x 15's should deliver as they are often more efficient at moving large amounts of air. A solid pair of 12's will be a bit more punchy, but if the trunk is not vented into the cabin, not much punch and mostly deep bass in that scenario too. Either way, from about 60 Hz and down, you can expect plenty of low end bass. Three 12's would be about the same cone area as two 15's. But in this scenario, ohmic load matching to the amp will be a bit more challenging unless using 3 ohm subs in parallel = 1 ohm net to the amp. Also, 3 subs will often cost more than two 15's. Porting at 30 Hz is fine. As long as the amp you choose has a SSF, good to go or will need F-Mods to do that job. Comments? Swez trunkisloud on 04/8/2007 22:43:46 i plan on cutting out the panel behind the rear seat as it is solid all the way across.....not the rear package tray but the actual metal behind the seat....ive noticed that in the lesabres its solid... swez on 04/8/2007 22:51:37 If your rear seat has a center armrest, (Gangster lean) that would be a great location for a venting hole. If not, time to get creative huh? Swez PS Yes, the LeSabre is a solid rear bench seat and no gangster lean in this model. Just lots of metal supports behind the rear seat back. trunkisloud on 04/8/2007 23:29:49 yea its a solid plate all the way across the back and no armrest....so its got to come out....ive decided to roll with the 15"s..now to decide which ones....maybe some p3's or type r's....they will have an autotek mm750.1 goin to each one..and yea i already plan on electical upgrades. swez on 04/9/2007 10:45:02 That sounds like a good plan and lots of extra fab work too. Nice choices on amps and subs as well. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
