2 kicker 12" l7s pushed by http://cgi.ebay.com/BOSS-BLX3500M-MONOBLOCK-SUB-AMPLIFIER-3500W-AMP-NEW-06_W0QQitemZ300094041018QQcategoryZ18797QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ? how would that be? and also should i buy a 4 or 2 ohm subs?? thanks Replies (5) trunkisloud on 04/8/2007 06:48:24 im sure that the others will agree that you can get a way better amp for the money.....boss is not really high quality though the blade searies seems to be their "better" line.....if you want much power on a budget then you should check out autotek....you can get the 1400d for around 250. i know thats more money but would you rather be bamboozeled or would you wanna know exactly what youre paying for and know that it will get the job done.....theres others out there as well..those l7 's deserve to be treated better especially at the price they want for em...id keep searching...just my opinion. swez on 04/8/2007 07:31:53 The L7's are very power hungry subs. To get the most from them, it takes a strong, quality amp to feed them properly. There are no shortcuts either. They like larger ported enclosures and a clean 750 Wrms per sub. Depending on your trunk size and the enclosure used, you may find it very acceptable to run a single 12 in a larger ported/vented box. Here, a single 4+4 sub would be a very good option and a Class D amp that can deliver a solid 800-1000 Wrms @ 2 ohms. If one gets into a dual sub system, amping power needed will exceed 1500 Wrms at 1 or 2 ohms, depending on the coil set used. This means massive current draw from the electrical system to support such a large amp. (100-120A's of current at full power) A stock GM electrical system will surely buckle at this type of load and major electrical upgrades will be costly. Most stock GM cars come with the CS-130 ALT package and about 600 CCA's in battery storage power. That's a 105 amp ALT and it only delivers about 50-55A's at idle. No way will that support a very strong amping system w/o upgrdes to a H.O. ALT, larger CCA BAT and beefed up wiring. (Big 3 upgrade) Think long term here dink. If you want a monster bass engine, nothing cheap about it and there are no cheap shortcuts. Comments? Swez dink32788 on 04/8/2007 14:59:16 possibly give me some brand and models to look into in the 200-300 dollar range off ebay :) trunkisloud on 04/8/2007 17:12:04 ikesound has a lot of options at decent prices....like i said earlier....autotek makes good power for cheap......but its your call. most of the good amps on ebay are strictly auction...no "buy it now" price...the buy it now goods are usually lower quality from what ive seen so might wanna broaden the search from ebay. swez on 04/8/2007 22:40:06 For that price range, Power Acoustik offers a pretty decent amp that is rated fairly and pretty reliable. It's not a Kicker, JBL, US Amps, Rockford or Orion, but neither is the price tag. Note the fusing on this amp. (4 x 30A's) It'll push a pair of L7's well enough at 1 or 2 ohms. This amp will draw a tad less current using a pair of 2+2 DVC Kicker L7's. That's 2 ohms when wired properly and 1600 Wrms. Not to shabby for under $300.00. http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/6199 OR http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/4369 Swez PS I pitty your wallet on this project my friend. The electrical upgrades mentioned before are a must to run these amps hard. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
