I-Pod Adapter Help

Alright guys, Today I decided I was going to go out and install the new I-Pod Adapter I bought from WoofersEtc for my Eclipse CD8445. I took apart the dash and installed everything how it was shown and then I hooked up my Ipod to test it.

I have tried to get the HU to go to the Sirius Mode or even the CD Changer mode in order to operate the Ipod from the HU but it doesnt let me do that. The only way I''m able to even get the thing to play is to go through the AUX option. I cant change the songs from the HU or even from the Ipod when its connected. I''ve tried every configuration option on the adapter itself and I'm getting to the point to where I want to take a sledge to the whole damn thing. I''ve read over the directions about 10x now along with the HU manual.

Does anyone have any insight on how to get this thing working correctly?

Heres what I''ve got:
Eclipse CD8445 HU
Eclipse I-Pod Adapter

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Have not done an eclipse ipod yet...
Try unplugging power to the unit for 15 seconds, then reconnect. I had to do that to a pioneer once. It's like restarting a computer after you have plugged in a scanner, printer, etc.. When it starts back up it recognizes it.

There's a few notes on this product:

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4405

* iPod interface adapter for "select" Eclipse stereos

* full iPod control is compatible with 2006 Eclipse stereos from model CD3000-up

Your HU may not be perfectly compatible with this version of adapter???

I have done a few I-Pod installs with Pioneer HU's and yes, you use the AUX input and these worked out fine. (Even a Sony version I-Pod worked out well)

In your case, the Player interface has to share data streams with the HU to get all features to work properly. It sounds like that is not happening. It sounds like you can get only the audio portion, but no controller features or texting is happening. That leads me to think something is missing or the HU does not recognize and decode this unit properly.

A note from Crutchfield site on i-pod interfaces for the CD5100 series:

"iPod Ready: You can enjoy music from your Apple iPod when it's connected to the head unit via the optional Eclipse iPC-106 Interface Adapter for iPod (item # 099IPC106). The adapter is compatible only with iPods with a dock connector. While connected, the head unit will power the iPod, and charge the iPod's battery. You can perform playlist, album, artist, genre, or song searches. Playback functions include track up/down, fast forward/rewind, track repeat, track random play, and album random play. Display selections include song, album, or artist. The iPC-106's E-LAN pass-through allows you to add a CD changer to your system"

I'd give Eclipse a call and see if your present HU is compatible with this adapter kit. My quess is it is not.

It should be combatable, in the manual for the adapter my model of HU is compatable. I'll try calling Eclipse tomorrow (if their open) or my next day off. I dont understand why its not working.

Alright, I went out and jimmied with it some more and finally got it to work. Adjusted the settings one more time and attempted the live reset like kittle said. It worked after that.

Thanks alot!

Project is almost finished. Once everything is done and installed I'll link the thread =)

Wannaful Jason... that makes life a tad easier huh? These add on are complex and take a little extra effort to get things to work properly. Glad you had success in this one w/o the added frustrations.

Nice call CPL Kittle! CLAP
