i need some help on finding a wiring harness for my car its 02 olds alero if anybody knows where i could get one please let me know Replies (11) cplkittle on 04/5/2007 21:56:26 http://bestkits.com/SearchResults.aspx?mk=Oldsmobile&mkid=26&md=Alero&mdid=704&yrg=2001%20-%202006 Yours will not be cheap. If you have onstar and Bose you are looking at $100-$200. If you have neither, it is still ~$50. You have to relocate the factory radio to the trunk. The factory radio has electronics in it that controll the door chime and other things. Don't forget the mounting kit and the antenna adapter. ace23 on 04/6/2007 09:11:57 ace23 on 04/6/2007 09:12:22 thanks for the help ace23 on 04/6/2007 15:54:58 sorry if i ask this and this sounds retarded but where would be the cheapest one to get and where at i also thought about getting a 2000 type of harness for my car would it work and does my stock head unit control that much cplkittle on 04/6/2007 20:03:18 Do you have Bose, Onstar or both? ace23 on 04/7/2007 14:11:53 i dont have either UKinstaller on 04/7/2007 19:54:24 for $15 you can buy a regular metra 70-2003 wiring harness. the only reason to relocate the radio in your car is to keep the door chime, which i don't think is worth the extra money. you WILL have to run an accessory wire from the ignition harness or fusebox though, because there is no accessory in the factory harness, it's GM LAN date ignition crap. -UK cplkittle on 04/7/2007 23:22:31 The acc wires in the ignition harness will be 12 ga orange or brown. You can also use the pink ignition wire of the same size. ace23 on 04/7/2007 23:24:49 so where do i get that and is it only the door chime or is there other stuff to it cplkittle on 04/7/2007 23:43:17 Since there is no bose or onstar, the only thing you lose is the door chime and the RAP (retained accesoory power) function. This is the feature that allows the radio to play after the keys are removed until the driver's door is shut. The wires will be in the lower part of the driver's dash under the steering wheel. The wires run from the ignition module (key cylinder), down the steering column, and take a left turn toward the driver's door. You will have to remove the lower dash. There may be a few screws in the bottom, but for the most part it just pops off. ace23 on 04/8/2007 00:05:08 thanks for help i greatly appreciate it once again thanks for everything you guys just made my day by telling that i wont hav to waist a bunch of money on something that i really dont need Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
