I recently bought a 2006 ford fusion six speaker system. I am keeping the stock stereo for right now, because I like the way it looks. I replaced the fronts with Infinity Reference 5 1/4" components, (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-lUZ8hxrJtic/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=1085010CS) back doors with 5 1/4" kicker 2 ways, (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-lUZ8hxrJtic/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=20605DS525), powered off an MTX ROAD THUNDER RTP404 4x75W POWER AMPLIFIER, I was going to add 6x9's to the rear deck and split the signal with the kickers. But now I am thinking about making a custom box and adding two MTX 8" on this link for type (http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=293-260), so that they would fit up where my 6x9's would be, firing down. Similar to the new MTX Thunderlink (http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products/enclosures/tlink.cfmI) I haven't decided on an amp for those if I went with them yet although I have always had good luck with MTX. I am not looking for bass that can be heard down the block but want it to sound good in the car. I don't want to lose any trunk space if possible, I usually have a alot of stuff in there, plus I have fold down seats and don't want to lose that option if I need to use it, i.e. impulse buy at Home Depot or something. I was just wondering what you all thought about this setup. Replies (1) swez on 04/4/2007 12:57:41 You have a good selection of gear in the plan already. Just noted the Kicker's are low power and rated at 70 watts peak. (That's about 35 Wrms/speaker) As for woofers, those MTX are a good option for a small sealed enclosure that gives each sub 0.5 cf/sub. (very compact) As for amping the subs, they are rated at 200 Wrms/sub. A Class D MONO amp that puts out 400-500 Wrms @ 2 ohm would be a great choice. Here's a few choices that will do a nice job on your subs: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-9BEBqiOKANj/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&I=236TC4001 http://www.crutchfield.com/S-9BEBqiOKANj/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&I=206ZX4001 If you shop the Internet, am sure you can find them much cheaper as Crutch is often a full retail seller. OnlinecarsStereo.com or Soniceletronics.com to name a few. FYI: When using hot links, it is best to separate them from text and don't add (xxxx) to either end or they won't work well. Good luck and am sure this will sound way better than stock too. You will have plenty of bass at hand if desired with this bass package. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
