Although this is not one of their better subs, cliff designs does make some really nice products.

If you are going to buy a cheap amplifier, might as well look for some cheap subs to go with it. A cheap amplifier will not produce clean sound, and will damage amy sub they are connected to. If the subs can handle 300 watts each, a cheap 2,000 watt amplifier might be able to produce 600 watts cleanly.

If he can not hear distortion and just likes it loud, there is no amp or sub that will stand up to his abuse that won't cost an arm and a leg. I have had alot of customers like this in the past. If they can not understand that 1) you get what you pay for. and 2) speakers have moving parts that will wear out.. basically there is nothing you can do to help him. He HAS to understand that loud is not cheap and if you don't take care of what you have it will not last.

In my car, it cost me around $4,000 at dealer cost to get ~155 Db of clean music without destroying any of my equiptment.

well i tried to explain to him to let me look online for an amp before he got that one...but he became impatient and went to a retailer....a small time flea market brand carrying retailer who whisperd all the right things in his ear and he ended up with that paperweight..so now hes stuck with it....im tryin to talk him into a decent single 12" ported....maybe a type r or something like that.....but id have to set the amp and remove the knobs so he cant change it up....

lol. That's about what it takes (ripping the knobs off)
I have built several custom enclosures where I covered the amplifiers with plexiglass so curious fingers couldn't get to the gain knob.

Most of the time if you set the gain on the amp with the bass boost or bass gain maxed out on the HU, there is enough contrast that they will be happy with the settings.

im not goin all out on a freebie, besides i suck at enclosures hehe i con my cuz into doin my boxes.

Speaking of cheap amps damaging things, I broke the tinsel lead on my Boston sub yet again today after listening to the THX Woofer Cooker. Good thing I can fix the thing in minutes flat now.....
