I have a Shaker system in my Mustang and want to hook the subs to a aftermarket amp. I know they are dual voice coil subs, but don't know if they are 4 ohm, 2 ohm or what can anyone help? How do you hook the factory sub amps to an aftermarket radio? (Pioneer DEH680MP) Thanks for the help!

I am not too sure on where to find that info on the Shaker sub, but that is stock equip right? Most speakers say on the back of the magnet structure what the ohm rating is, though not all. Is it one of those screwy kind of subs that are pretty much attached permanently to the enclosure?

I'm sure one of our pro installers can answer the factory sub amp question a little better, but I am pretty sure a pretty complicate wiring clip would be required to do this if this function isn't already functional. Was the stock wiring harness cut during the installation of your Pioneer H/U? This can make things a real pain later down the road.

You can either call the dealership and ask them (parts department will probably have the specs on this). Or you can remove one of the speakers and check it with an ohm meter. If you remove the speaker, there is a good chance the ohms and maybe the wattage will be stamped on the back.
It is just as important to know the wattage they can handle as well as the output on the factory amplifier.
