i hav a fusion powerplant 2000 watt amp hooked up to my subs which are 1600 max each and i also hav a 4 farad cap. i was wondering if i hooked up my second 2000 watt powerplant amp if it would drain the battery and if so wat should i get to help keep things running good Replies (5) ShootuhMcBustaCap on 03/24/2007 06:23:50 What are the model numbers/RMS ratings on the amps and subs? i looked for a few, but couldn't find a matching name wattage rating. Its good to know the fuse rating on your amp as well when discussing current draw/charging system upgrades. cplkittle on 03/24/2007 15:23:26 The cap is worthless. How does the car respond to the current load? do the lights dim? how much? What upgrades have you done if any to the battery or alternator? ace23 on 03/24/2007 23:27:58 the lights dim really bad to the point were my brights are like my lows and no upgrades yets dont kno wat to upgrade. model number for the amps is pp-am20001 rms for each one is 1150x1 channel@1ohm each amp has four 25 fuses the subs are TXX-AP12RD 1600 watts max 800 rms cplkittle on 03/24/2007 23:41:07 If you are adding a second amplifier, you will definitely need to go ahead and upgrade the alternator to a high output alternator somewhere around 200 amps. You will need a high cold cranking amp battery as well. An optima yellow top is what I normally recommend. I know this is going to be expensive, it could cost as much as $800. It is a necessary upgrade though. When the bass hits and the lights dim, that is due to a voltage drop. If the voltage drops too low for long periods of time, it can fatally damage the car's electronics. There are multiple computers in the car (one for the transmission, the engine, the interior, the ABS, the cruise controll, the airbag system, etc..) Any one of those could cost atleast twice as much as the alternator/battery upgrade to replace. ShootuhMcBustaCap on 03/25/2007 10:42:22 Well said as always Kit! Especially on the cap. Trust us on this one, there is nothing like when your bass hits and the car stops running. This happened to me in a left turn lane. No fun at all. No car for a week either......Fortunaltey, i didn't killanything but the batt. and alt. Thanks for lettin me know that other componets can be fried as well, I didn't know that could happen.
