Hi, I got a JBL 1200 and was wonderin what subs would be best to go with it and which way to wire them series or parallel. Lookin for more quality than SPL. Not lookin at the real expensive ones, got about 800 cdn to spend, maybe a little more. Also since it is a Class D Amp, would any other amp be necessary for it to power the subs? 1999 Grand Am GT Replies (3) compvr15s on 08/15/2003 21:17:27 that amp will power a set of subs with ease, probably even 4. im not too sure how much 800cnd is but im sure we can find you a really great deal on a high sq set of subs, probably want 2 10" or 2 12" or maybe even 1 12". i cant specifiy any brand because im not much into sq i just like high spl, but i know comp vrs are decent sq with above average spl, wait for the others, good luck tho, ILikeBass on 08/16/2003 02:25:37 Take a Look at these subs. Edesignaudio.com ( look at the E12A ) Adireaudio.com ( go to mobile audio then to Drivers and select Brahma ) JLaudio.com ( The JL w7 ) eclipse-web.com ( Look at the Ti series ( Titanium series ) All of these Give unparalelled sound and great SPL as well. Also look at Onyxmobileaudio.com ( Look at the LSv.2 and the LSMv.2 ) i own a pair of the LS's and let me say that are the best sounding subwoofer i have ever used and with 2 12"s i hit a 137.5 on the new Termlab mic ( which is a very stiff mic ) playing a test tone of 45hz with only 300w RMS to each sub. Imagine what the LSM's can do Swez on 08/16/2003 05:53:41 ILB has some very good recommendations listed. Thing is, you have a midsized sedan/coupe so truck space for stowage may be an issue for you to keep in mind. Great amp, has plenty of reserve power for very clean bass and high SPL if you so desire. Just make sure you use #4 gage power and ground wires here. If you think you may want to add a interior amp later, drop to #2 gage kit as this amp can pull >100A at high output levels. Hope you have a potent ALT/BAT in this vehicle to handle that much current. ( only if you crank it hard often) Personally, the Adire Brahma is very well known for great SQ & strong bass. Can work very well in a small space of say 1.25cf. This sub is 1/2/4 DVC, 3" voice coil and a single 10, 12 or 15" can handle all the JBL can put out too. $369.00 (USD) for the 12" is within your budget and can still afford a box too. But don't use a cheapo box as this combo will shred a cheapo box. SMILE GOTO: http://www.adireaudio.com/mobile_audio/drivers/brahma_series.htm for more details on this sub as it has a huge X-Max of 27.32mm one way linear... (>54.0 mm full throw capacity) That's huge and cone excursion is what makes Bass grab your guts or stay ultra clean at higher listening levels.
