hey,
I own a 1997 Saturn and want some more power than the stock system, but im gonna get a new car in 2 years or something so i do want to ipermanemently install a system.

my price range is probably below $200 and i need something that won't be permanent.

so any help on what kind of arangement that could give me a decent sound would be appreciated. thanks...

saterns are about as easy as they come to install a deck into. There is no reason why you cannot take that radio and re-install the factory when you sell the satern as long as you use the correct parts.

What are you wanting other then under $200?

if your going to be looking for a temporary amp... you could get a used pyramid crystal amp, pb1281x (http://pyramidcaraudio.com/itempage.asp?model=PB1281X), from me. most people say pyramids suck, but i personally thought this thing pumped my 12'' 1000w rms pioneer sub really well. im looking in the range of $80 for it, leave a feedback if your interested.

im not gonna try to be the loudest boy on the block or anything, just somewhere between 100 and like 300 watts. instead of getting a couple of subs and tweeters an all that i was thinking i could just get P.A. speaker at guitar center and throw that in the back of my trunk. would that work? or do i need a standard rig w/ an amp, sub, tweeter?

I doubt you can find a PA for less than $200, and the power inverter you need to run it (120v) will cost around $150.

Basically, not a good idea.

I don't know of any sub(s) and amplifier that would be under $200, so I would go with Ttocs' reccomendation of a HU. I would use the entire $200 on a nice HU which you can take out and install into your new car. You will be surprised at the difference a new HU will make. Basically it will double the power to the speakers over the factory HU.

o.k. i guese the PA was a stupid idea. Im looking at some head units now, but i think i want to get something like this

so say i got something similar to this and i had a decent sturdy HU. i would need an amplifier right?

and what if i did get the sub and tweeter cabinet thing would i use that with my standard car speakers or would i just disconect them.

Something like that would probably be the least expensive route.
You will need an amplifier to go with those also. That one says 300 watts per channel max, so you would need a 600 watt peak amplifier to go along with it.
