THIS IS HIS POST HE M.ADE ON ANOTHER FORUM

""Soundstream XXX 6500 INSTALLED!

Yep, thats right. I just got done installing it. BUT there seems to be a slight problem.

I hooked it up. Power comes on and it does work. Very oddly the voltage jumps up and down when I was setting the gains with a DMM. I mean it should go up and down by .x volts or maybe by 1-3V the most, but the sucker was doing 20V drops. Plus with sine wavs it seems to get pretty loud, but it sounded like the Treo I had may have been louder, I dont know. However, at the same gain settings and all, when I play actual music there is a huge difference and it seems like it really doesnt hit that hard at all...never had that problem with the Treo. I have a few ideas why this may be happening. 1) I only have a 200A fuse by the battery and I'm waiting for a 300A fuse to come in. 2) I have a stock 90A alt. But for comps I'll be in Street B and the car would need to be off. I'm going to try to take it to an audio shop this weekend, but I'm not sure if I'll get the chance to or not. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on what I just mentioned?""

i was just wondering your expert opinon on the matter

Is he tuning the amplifier with the subwoofer disconnected and using the Multi Meter hooked into the subwoofer outs on the amplifier?

*What frequency Sine Wave is he using?
*Is he tuning the amplifier with the volume at about 3/4 to max on his Head Unit?
*Does he have an after market battery with high CCA?
*Whats the voltage comming from his HU?
*What setting is he using on his Muli Meter?

When I was tuning my amplifier a while back I realized that I was tuning the amplifier with it set on the setting for low input voltage. When I tuned it with the correct setting for high input volts (my Eclipse is a 8v) I was able to fix it.

What amp is he running and what is the voice coil load the amp is seeing here? With that, we can determine the correct ouput voltage for his gain settings.

FYI: A sub needs some break in time to loosen up. That's often 10-12 hours or so at 40-50% of full power. Then the sub will sound fuller, deeper and louder too.
