Hi, I have TOYOTA COROLLA 2004. I am replacing the original player with regular pioneer one. I will buy an adopter... but my question is: Is there a way to connect regular portable mp3 player that has 2.5cm audio out (for headphones) so I can listen to it in the car from the car’s speakers? Thanks. Replies (9) cplkittle on 02/25/2007 15:20:25 There are several ways. What is the model of the pioneer radio? some have auxillary inputs. If your radio does not have an aux input, you will have to use a FM modulator which will broadcast the music on a radio frequency which has about a 5' range. All you will have to do is tune in the stereo to the channel set on the FM mod and there ya go. FM modulators are not highly recommended in the car audio world because there is so much bleed over from other frequencies. If you haven't purchased a radio yet, let us suggest a few models that will give you a direct input capability. such as this one: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/product/details/0,,2076_310069880_291048449,00.html This model has an auxillary input, and also has the capability to completely controll and charge the ipod through the radio. You will need this integration piece for that: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/product/details/0,,2076_310069910_307492523,00.html swez on 02/25/2007 15:57:24 Many of the Pioneer's have a 3.5mm stereo AUX jack on the front panel. All one need do, is get/make a patch cable with male 2.5mm on one end and 3.5mm on the other and 4-6 feet of 2conductor + ground coaxial cable. Tech Tip: The 3.5mm jack is easy to find. I have yet to find a good 2.5mm submini-jack that is easy to solder and reliable. If you get a line on one, let us know. This one is miserable to work with: 2.5mm Male http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?webpage_id=3&CATID=39&ObjectGroup_ID=103 This one if fine: 3.5mm Male http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=090-292 Swez rapser on 02/25/2007 16:50:01 My pioneer is DEH-P3500MP it doesn't have any input's but for changer. it's old model that is similar to DEH-1900MP but has no aux input. I know about the FM transmitter but the sound will be much worse. Is there another way? Thanks. cplkittle on 02/25/2007 19:08:21 It looks like your only option is FM modulation. There are two different types. One will connect to an inline box with your antenna plug. Also referred to as a 'wired FM mod' this will give you the best signal because it will interrupt or disconnect FM signals coming in and will direct feed the signal into the antenna wire. The only drawback here is that it is a semi permanent install, and it requires removing the radio to install. The other option is a 'wireless FM mod' These come in all shapes and sizes. Some are simply a plug that you insert into the cigarette lighter. Some are a bit more complex. You can work with any style that has 2.5, 3.5 or even RCA inputs. There are many style adapters on the market. A simple 2.5 to RCA can be found at radio shack. SoccerSamson07 on 02/25/2007 21:06:25 I have a Pioneer DEH-P4800MP cd deck and I have my ipod hooked up throught the aux input. I havent found out how to play it though. With my old deck (It was an older Panasonic one) I had a XtremeMac AirPlay2 FM Transmitter do the trick http://www.theistore.com/airplay2.html . I had very good sound quality with it. It has a convienient charging slot in the bottom so ur ipod will allways have a full charge. It works better with it charging also. The only cons about this product is that you need to be carefull not to break off the connector on the modulator. The only problme i had with the signal is that sometimes when you drive by someone else with a transmitter, you get static or pick up a clear signal of what someone else is listening to. Its pretty funny to see what old ladies listen to. So if anyone can help me out with my Pioneer DEH-P4800MP cd deck it would be greatly appreciated! swez on 02/26/2007 00:35:14 There is a way to add this feature to a older HU if you so desire. I have used the Audiobahn AEQ6 before and this offers a new dimension to older HU's that have limited features and expansion. This Bahn has EQ/Line driver and AUX input features as well. One only needs 1 pair of RCA line outs from the HU and automatically splits a single pair to 3 pairs. (Front, Rear & Sub outs) You get Master Gain, Fade, Sub gain and 4 EQ dials and AUX inputs as well as a Line driver to boost signal voltage to outboard amps. (THIS IS STRICKLY A PREAMP) If no outboard amps are used, it will not do the job. Have seen the older AEQ6 off e-bay for ~$60.00. They also have advanced models, (Q7, Q8) that use Paramteric EQ and all the other features noted too. If you have outboard amping, this is a very good option. Finally, this is a 1/2 Din Preamp. Depending on your dash, it can be installed under the HU or other small pockets in the dash console. I like it for on-the-fly adjustments, simple to use and a reasonable price. Comments? Swez PS FM modulated systems really lack in performance VS hardwired units. But if you are not using outboard amps, that is your only real option, short of replacing the HU. UKinstaller on 02/26/2007 04:42:21 use this http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=34 get an RCA to 2.5 jack, plug it into this thing, run to where you want it in your car, done. best sound quality method, too. -UK jamesp on 02/26/2007 08:51:42 Have any of you guys ever seen an RCA pair to 2.5mm plug that was on a small retractable reel. I would like to find one for my Mp3 plaver connected to AUX in. I hooked one up this weekend but the 6' cord I bought from Radio Shack is a fairly thick cord. It is about the size of large, zip type lamp cord. It was the only thing I could find on short notice. I had to adjust the AUX in volumne level control up quite a bit to get CD comparable volumne at the same numerical settings. Does your Pioneer head unit have adjustable source volumn control? If not, you will probably have to turn the volumne up about 1/3 higher for the same output as your CD source. rapser on 02/26/2007 11:14:19 THANKS UKinstaller tyhat's what I needed. Thanks to the other guys for the reply too! Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
