2 days later (13 hours) i have my 6.5" speakers in the doors. Now on the right side when the window is down it rubs on the back of the speaker is that goin to effect the quality/cooling down of the speaker. Also im goin to put my crossovers on the door cover where at the bottom of most doors they have a lil space that u can put sunglasses or whatever in. Is that alright? Thanks

If you mount the xover there it will work . Do not just set it in there and leave as it could fall out and break . I would not put it there , I would have put it in the door (if there is room ) with either a screw in to hold it or double sided tape just so it will not move around. wait for the pros to get to ya as I am most of the time wrong

Ryan,

It should not affect the quality of your sound, nor the functionality of the speaker itself.

However, you may want to consider that if the window is rubbing on your speaker, and sets against it while traveling with the windows down, could this lead to a problem. Get my drift. Pothole, large speed bump, etc + glass against magnet could = broken window.

I'd look into putting some sort of spacer between the speaker and the door. It won't need to be anything big, but just enough to stop the rubbing.

As far as crossovers go, you can typically mount them wherever you wish. Some people like them to be seen, so include them as part of the visual aspect of their system. Others want them hidden, so mount them behind the dash, or inside the door, as baine stated.

I don't know about falling out and breaking, but you do want to mount the xovers, as loose components + electrical connections in a moving vehicle are not the best combinations.

If I remember correctly, when I worked on my ex's Cav, there was some space between the door, and the interior panel, below the handle, behind the 'semi armrest' they have. I don't know what you got for speakers/xovers, but depending on the size, this may be a good location for you.

put some washers inbetween the speaker and the door until it does not rub anymore. If you have to move it alot, be sure the door panel will still fit.

Crossover should be fine there. Be sure to mount however as I am sure it would be tempting to throw it in there and think that it can't go anywhere.

Man i feel stupid. I just hooked up my speakers and went to play them no sound. Im thinkin all the wirings correct. Then i think back when i did the wiring to the HU(since im not amping them yet). Then i realize i connect them not to the HU wiring but to my factory wiring goin back in the car now i have to redo it.
