Looking for help removing stock stereo from 2004 Galant????

any special tools needed?

Does the whole center plastic cover need to come off?

I can't remember these.
The trim around the radio will have to come off, I am almost positive. Look for screws first, but most are held in by spring clips. Be gentle and don't do it in the cold. Plastic will snap if you look at it wrong in the cold. Let the car warm up so it is not so brittle.

very easy radio to pull. no screws on the dash, just pop that whole trim piece off with a pry tool, careful not to scratch.

remove four phillips screws holding A/C controls in, drop it down low, and there's some screws holding the back of the radio in. take those out (they're way back there) and lift the radio up and pull out and it's outta there. you'll have to manually ground whichever head unit you put in there, there's no ground in the wiring harness.
