Hello, I have a kicker cvr 12 inch subwoofer in a ported box, (heres a link) http://answers.shopping.com/xPF-Kicker-CVR12~FD-422~kworg-kicker%20cvr%2012~kw-kicker%20cvr%2012~linkin_id-8002939~DMT-1~VK-8002932 and just recently replaced my old amplifier with a new crunch 1000 watt 2 channel amplifier because i got a good deal on it. Heres a link http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/5412.html I have been reading about the problems with overpowering amps and would this negatively affect my subwoofer when i hooked it up? Thanks

Should be OK here. This amp uses peak power rating numbers. Your sub is rated at 400 watts RMS.

This amp will deliver about 450-500 watts RMS when bridged to 4 ohms. As long as you don't overdrive the amp into heavy clipping and distortion, this sub will take a few extra watts.

Be sure to use the variable subsonic filter on this amp! This should be set close to the tuning frequency of your ported box. (30-35 Hz., is often good if the box is tuned between 35-45 Hz.

By using a higher voltage head unit you can set the gain on your amp lower and thus amplify less noise.
