Hi, Guys, My car audio was alright, till recently, what happening is at low volume the bass and mids are alright, but a high volumes the mids over power the bass, even if I raise the bass level on the HU, it does not make a difference. Can you help me, PLEASE It was not like this before. Thanks. Replies (8) swez on 02/1/2007 22:43:14 Something has changed in your system and we need to figure out what that change is. Can you list your gear so we can have a look at some details and then try to provide some usable input? Tks, Swez b_bass59 on 02/2/2007 13:19:39 My setup is Pioneer 6800 HU - Clarion MCD360 crossover - Boss ch800 4ch Amp (Yes the Boss has to change). straight to the Pioneer 12" Sub and the other two channels to 6x 6"eminems speaker. My Hu powers 4 tweeters. All the setting are the same I checked it plenty times. Thanks B_Bass59 swez on 02/2/2007 14:37:22 Hummm, I take it your Pioneer sub is a 4 ohm sub, powered by 2 bridged channels of the Boss amp? The other 2 channels power your 6" Eminence? mids? (3 per channel, 8 ohm speakers in parallel?) I would look at the sub channels and see how much voltage is getting to your sub, from this amp. It sounds like one channel may have some problems and your output power is lower as a result. Have you tried to adjust the amp gain on the sub channels to see if you can bring up the bass to normal levels? Swez PS Yes, Boss is not a quality amp. This company greatly exaggerates their power ratings and components used in same are not as robust as a better BRANDED name would deliver. cplkittle on 02/2/2007 19:15:15 Is the sub in a sealed or ported box? Also, what is your level of understanding on your head unit? Have any of the following settings been changed? Bass Low pass filter, loud, MX or BBE, Eq settings. One more thing.. Do the sub RCAs run through the crossover before the amp? What are the other settings on the amplifier (sub channels) as far as SSF, LPF, bass bost, gain? b_bass59 on 02/2/2007 23:23:13 Swez, Can this be a power problem, because at low volumes the sound is balanced, when I turn it up the mids over powers the bass even if I max the input on the amp still, but when I drop the volume it takes about 20sec before the bass get back its level. cplkittle, The sub is in a ported box tuned at 30hz. I know my HU well. none of the setting has been change the sub level is the same as it was before. Even with all the setting at default I have the same problem. Yes the sub RCA run through the crossover before the amp, it was like this from the start, and no problem, the setting are the same as before, the amp also. Thanks Guys Regards b_bass59 cplkittle on 02/3/2007 02:04:17 I keep thinking its the amp. I would try reversing the sub channels with the mids. Reverse the RCAs, the speakers, and reverse the settings. swez on 02/3/2007 08:26:48 It almost sounds like one of the rear channels that power this sub has failed and you're only getting 1 channel worth of power to the sub right now. This is easy to check: 1. Disconnect sub wires from bridged rear channels 2. Connect sub wires to Channel 3 only and listen 3. Now, move sub wired to Channel 4 and listen If you note a big difference in sub volume levels between channels 3 or 4, the weaker one is probably the culprit. Check that your RCA wires from the crossover are snug and try swapping L/R outputs to your amp to confirm you have a bad channel or not. A poor RCA connection might be all that is wrong here. Then again, one of the rear amp channels could be pooping out too. Swez b_bass59 on 02/4/2007 21:58:29 I'll try that, and I'll tell you guys the results.
