Does anyine have any experience with this unit. I have the Sony MEX BT5000 and I'm wondering if I'm going to run into many of the same things that I have read about in other forums. I read somewhere before that Directed was going to come out with an updated version of the tuner but the copyright on the box of my tuner reads 2005. I plan to install it this weekend and will reply back with how it goes. Any input is appreciated. Thanks GRIN Replies (4) swez on 01/25/2007 22:06:49 Have not seen such a bird as this on CK to date. When all else fails, read the manual and follow it to the letter. Don't expect a lot of tech support from Sony either. They are the worst when it comes to car audio support, specs and online documentation. http://reviews.cnet.com/Sony_MEX_BT5000/4660-6729_7-6654996.html Swez cplkittle on 01/25/2007 22:27:08 Did he say "regular off the shelf cds, as well as MP3, WMA and 8 TRACK" ????? swez on 01/26/2007 10:54:43 He said 'ATRAC' coded CD's... Quote: "Under the hood, the single-DIN Sony MEX-BT5000 is an AM/FM CD receiver using 24-bit digital-to-analog conversion and a built-in S-MOSFET amp to produce a hefty 52Wx4 channels of output. The stereo supports a range of digital audio formats, including MP3, WMA, and ATRAC CD. It is prewired for satellite radio and features a built-in auxiliary input, three pre-outs, and a bus control for connecting a CD changer. It also includes a feature called BBE MP signal processing, which restores some of the sound quality lost through the compression of digital audio files by reamplifying acoustic details or "harmonics" that were reduced in the compression process." http://reviews.cnet.com/Sony_MEX_BT5000/4505-6729_7-31962134.html?tag=viddet If you really wanted an 8-track player, (God only knows why) it can be done via one of the 3 AUX input line sets available in this unit.
