Car Stereo question involving data cd's/satellite

I was wondering what to look for in a cd player that you can play data cd's from computers on. I do not know what to look for on the box or anything like that. I was also wondering if the stereos with the built in xm or sirius receivers are worth it as compared to the external ones. Please help me if you can.

data? ya mean MP3's or data disks?

You will not notice a difference with an on board or off-board sirius, which is what I recommend but has more to do with your music taste.......

sirius sucks.. go XM!!
just kidding. Honestly they are about the same.
I do like the fact that certain companies offer head units that are 'satellite ready' and not locked on to one or the other. I have installed terk xm receivers to kenwood 'sirius ready' head units, it works the same.

Kunerk, you will find that most CD players in the $200 price range are satellite ready, mp3, wma, and most have a remote. If it says XM, Sirius, or satellite ready you still have to buy about $80 worth of add on equiptment to get it to pick up satellite radio. It's kinda like saying a radio is CD ready (you have to buy the CD). The integrated satellite radio either built in or added to a satellite ready unit will be cleaner than the FM transmitted units like the sirius sportster, the XM skyfi or roadie. These are the units that you can remove from the vehicle and connect to a boom box in your house.
I wouldn't recommend the boom box for the XM, because you can listen online if you have a subscription.
