If pushing the reset button does not work, take a small screwdriver and a flashlight and gently lift up the dust flap and look into the CD slot. Most CD players have two arms that swing in from the outside holding the CD in. If you can see these, gently push one of these arms to the outside of the deck while pressing the eject button. It should release and eject the CD. Sometimes this is an occasional thing, sometimes it will happen every time. If pushing the arms aside works, it will work everytime one gets stuck. swez on 01/17/2007 09:52:30 Another trick that might work if you're in a cold snap, use a hair dryer to warm up the mechanicals in the HU. Medium heat setting for a few minutes might be enough to get the CD to eject. DON'T USE SO MUCH HEAT AS TO DAMAGE THE DISPLAY!!! Swez ShootuhMcBustaCap on 01/17/2007 10:36:43 I had this exact same problem with a JVC Kameleon Lx-300 I had forever. The first time this occurred I punched the hell out of my dashboard, and the CD popped out and didn't do it for about a year. Well a year and two vehicles later, I would do it every time. I would do as Kit said with the arms, and it would pop out fine, and it wouldn't give any problems when the CD player was HOT, not just warm, but hot. But eventually a CD got super stuck, took the arms with it when I pulled it out, and It wouldn't input, eject or even slide back to the closed position. Damn thing broke my heart, but it lead to better things, such as my Alpine. I feel your pain man, I just hope your deck doesn't have the sentimental value attached to it as mine did. LOL cplkittle on 01/17/2007 12:30:22 The Kameleons were really bad about overheating. Awesome design idea, poorly executed. I laughed when I read this post. Basically, the options suggested thus far have been: reset button push arms aside warm mechanics in the HU and my favorite: Punch the hell out of the dashboard LOL swez on 01/17/2007 17:51:04 Shall we add more options too? So far we seem to have covered the logical, the fail safe and the extreme measures? It would seem that some adequate cleaning and lubrication might be in order here too. Swez cplkittle on 01/17/2007 19:04:27 David Blane or David Copperfield might be of some help here also. There, all the bases are covered now. :) Bluedemon, let us know how things are going. It helps us to know what solved the problem, so we can keep a mental note. Also, if you can provide a make and model that will help for future reference. ttocs on 01/17/2007 21:34:04 get a bigger hammer, they always pop right out....... ShootuhMcBustaCap on 01/17/2007 21:51:04 Yeah, punching it did work. I think thats the first time my rage issues ever paid off! I wish I wad thought of cleaning and lubing the ol' LX-300, but in eitheir case, the actuall internals of electronics, and how they can be repaired, really intimidate me. I tried to swap out the disc drive with one off of a different old deck I had put to death prior to getting the JVC, and that didn't work. As far as the JVC goes, I have never seen a sexier deck. ( in my opinion anyway.) I have owned two, the Lx-300, and an earlier model. The first time I had ever seen one, It was at Sountrack, (before they became Ultimate Electronics), and me and my homie couldn't figure out for the life of us how to get it to work. Then about a month later, a different homie was selling me one, and I was an offer I couldn't refuse. But about 2 weeks after I put it in, my car was stolen. About a year later, after my Toyota was recovered, Yet another homie brought one by, and I had to beg him to sell it to me. He eventually did, and I ran that thing til' It coulldn't be ran anymore. The thing was great looking, but functionality and features left a lot to be desired. It had CD text capabilies, which I thought was the coolest thing ever, til' MP3 capabilities of my Alpine blew that out of the water. Also, it had no sound prcessing besides basic bass/treble controls, and a mild BBE, but the sub control had only 8 notches of adjustability, and It was the last adjustment in the menu.. Pretty weak. I never knew what I was missing out on until I put in my Alpine. Now I would never own another JVC product. BlueDemon, Do Not Punch The Hell Out Of Your Dash! This Was Just Dumb Luck! LOL jamesp on 01/17/2007 22:22:22 UKinstaller on 01/19/2007 19:35:48 ooh, too late i see to give you this info, but i'll do it anyway for future use. almost every JVC head unit i've put in has locked up at some point on time. on the click wheel volume knob, there should be a button at the center of it. hold that and the top left button on the face for a few seconds and it will cut off, automatically ejecting the CD. works every time. -UK Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
