if you have a 600 rms amp and a 600 rms sub you will be able to go higher than 1/2 power, just turn bass boost down all the way, set your crossover to ~80hrz or so and then turn your cd player up untill you hear distortion from your interior speakers, then turn the volume back a few clicks and then goto your amp with your cd player running and turn the gain up until you hear your sub distorting and turn it down just a lil. make sure all your eqs on your cd player are at zero. then once you have everything set like this you can then goto your cd player and fine tune it to an extent through the eq if you have on on your head unit. if you need more info just ask, good luck

Why pay for 600 watts of power and not use it?

The answer lies in the efficiency ratings of a sub. If you had 2 subs and let's say...

A. Sub #1 takes 300 RMS, but has an efficiency of 90dB/1w/1m rating
B. Sub #2 takes 600 RMS, but has an efficiency rating of 85dB/1w/1m

Here, you will get more SPL out of Sub #1 with less watts input as it is more efficient.

NOTE: We assume the same sub enclosure design (sealed or ported) and the efficiency ratings are accurately represented by the sub makers.

Does that blow your mind or what?
