Gain setting an amplifier the right way

Found this video on a guy from eDesigns, showing how to set amplifier gains using a calibrated 50 Hz Test tone, a DMM and "dummy load" resistors instead of speakers. Here's the video link:

Test tones at 50 and 1,000 Hz are also available on the video link for your computer. They are 30 seconds long and we can always use repeat playback if more time is needed.

FYI: If you have Media Player and use the graphic vertical bars, note the harmonics in this test tone. See how the highs are still there, but drop off fast on the bar graph?

wow that video makes it preety simple..

if you didn't have a tone generator, could you simply make a cd with a 50hz tone, and play it in your car?
