I have a question regarding the stereo in a 1997 Chrysler Cirrus. I recently replaced the factory rear 6x9's using an aftermarket speaker connector and now the front and door speakers don't work. The o.e connector has four wires and the after market connector uses two of the wires for the + and - to the speakers. Are the two wires, not being used, involved in completing some kind of circuit allowing all speakers to work? Has anybody else had this problem? Any suggestions would be most helpful. (ttocs) My guess is that that this 4 wire harness is indeed patched in some way to the front speakers. Not exactly sure why though. These unused wires you have, can you probe them with an ohmeter to determine if there is any resistance to be read? While probing, have the HU turned off and have a buddy listen to the front speakers for any popping or static sounds. There may be a factory amp setup here and may be part of why you are having problems. Is this a premium Infinity sound system in the car? Swez ttocs on 08/12/2003 21:16:21 sounds like you replaced infinity speakers? Was the amp mounted on the speaker? If I remember correctly, the four wires going to the factory speaker should have been a low pass and a high pass straight from the deck. You might be shutting the factory amp down with the new speakers. Do they come back on when you disconnect the new speaker, or when the factory speaker is reconnected? It sounds strange...
