am i just being an idiot?? i can't find a link for making a DIY article. i want to make an article for installing remote starts / keyless entry. happy new year! -UK Replies (5) ttocs on 01/1/2007 11:13:28 I really don't know how anyone would go about telling how to install security man. Just to go through all the details of explaining pos trigger, neg trigger, 5-wire locks, 1 wire locks, factory security integration and bypass and how to propely find diagnose and test these wires to ensure they can hook them up. I think it would be a better idea to help on a 1 on 1 bases for their needs and their vehicle. You and I have probably both see what an amature install in a alarm can do and cost to repair and I really don't want anyone getting half way before they realized they were over their head. I have helped people with security before but not before I was confident that they might be able to do it and willing to accept the responsability for any damage they may cause. I can just imagine us getting the responce that the 16 yr ols newb who just signed up and also just started trying to wire his alarm to his moms car after reading your post....... He has done a few systems for his friends and of course and knows everything and everthing is wired right but nothing works on the car or alarm on his moms car now. It must be a bad alarm right? Ash on 01/1/2007 11:18:42 I think UK is talking about how to put one in the user added articles. ttocs on 01/1/2007 11:50:32 I know. My personal opinion is that it is a good idea in a few cases(the people that kinda know what they are doing) but in the majority of cases it will be some kit cutting into the wires while not really understanding what he is doing. I think I would rather just tell anyone that wants to install their own alarm they would be better grabbing the biggest sharpest scissors you can find and then start a relay race. Most of the people that run with scissors would not hurt themselfs, but if they did it would not be a simple band-aid to fix it............ cplkittle on 01/1/2007 22:25:22 LOL, I really like that, ttocs. that is really a perfect parallel. I don't know what happened to the write article link, Walt may have removed it back when he was creating the DIY article editor. ttocs on 01/1/2007 22:26:41 i am not sayin it is a bad idea, just gonna be hard.
