hey, im tryin to wire up my 2 dvc 4-ohm type-r's to 1 ohm. i have the diagram but i dont know the proper way to put 2 wires inthe same terminal of the woofer. i also am wondering if it would be fine to use one terminal cup to get the wires inside the box.. my amp is a hifonics brutus 1206d and it has 2 positive speaker outs and 2 negatives. would i wire 2 positive outs to the same positive on the cup? then do the same with the negative? i never really thought about this before i got my stuff.........thanks Replies (8) cplkittle on 12/29/2006 20:44:45 You shouldn't really have to tie more than one wire to each terminal.. If you are going down to 1 ohm, just tie all the positives together and all the negatives together. Either at the terminal cup or at the amp.. doesn't matter. The amp is a single channel, there are 2 positives and 2 negatives for convenience.. they are the same. lukeduke28 on 12/30/2006 02:16:13 so only using 1 positive and 1 negative wont cut back on the power any?? Ash on 12/30/2006 07:23:03 Not unless your some kind of purist. You should always use the biggest wire that will fit for maximum flow anyway. For neatness I always run one. Many mono amps come that way and tend to confuse people in that they are really 2 channel amps. I wish they wouldn't make them like that. ttocs on 12/30/2006 09:46:04 luke- by one pos and one neg, i hope you do not mean to drive on one coil of a DVC sub? The only sub I have ever blown was a dvc wired up this way... Ash on 12/30/2006 10:27:30 Good catch there Ttocs. Just was clueing in on the amp and cup connections. Yeah, if your talking about wiring only one coil, then not good. All 4 coils should be wired (summed) together within the box for simplicity. Run a short jumper from + to other sub side + and vice versa for negative for each sub. lukeduke28 on 12/30/2006 17:05:54 yea, i know to wire all of the coils on the subs.. i was just wondering if only using 1 positive and 1 negative on the amp would cut back the power any. cplkittle on 12/30/2006 18:07:29 Not at all. If you were to take the amplifier apart, you would see that the two positives are tied together inside the amp. same with the negatives. lukeduke28 on 12/30/2006 18:19:28 k, thanks for the help guys Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
