I've got a Sony MEX-BT5000, and There has to be away to set it up where i can have both an ipod, and xm, i thought about putting a splitter on the wire running to the aux input but the problem is that the xm is constantly playin in the background when i do this. Anyone have any advice? Replies (7) ttocs on 12/28/2006 11:23:00 I am familiar with sirius rather then xm, but normally there is and input and an output on the sirius unit that I thought was for changers/ipod accesories? cplkittle on 12/28/2006 23:38:57 You can't really run a dual signal input through a single aux in unless you can turn one of the devices off. I can't really tell exactly how this radio is set up, and I am very aggravated at sony's webmaze. It is impossible to find anything.. ok, I downloaded the specs for the radio (over 1 Mb PDF file, took 5 minutes on my dialup connection) and it dosen't tell me if the optional accessories all plug into the same spot on the back of the radio or if they all have their own plug. Are you using the earphone jack from the Ipod, and the same jack from a stand alone XM unit? along with the aux in selector XA-300, or are you using xa110ip? The specs say that it is sat radio ready, ipod ready on the same line. I wonder if it is one or the other, because I didn't see an optional XM interface. How exactly do you have this one wired up? swez on 12/29/2006 02:13:47 If only 1 Aux and you have 2 devices, one could fabricate a switch box for A/B input devices, assuming both use the same interface cables. (Ie: 3.5mm stereo jacks) I made one for a guy a while back for his headphones/mike so he did not have to do it manually to his computer when using his IM chat rig. Swez BenReilly on 12/29/2006 08:50:22 The Xm hooks up through an rca, And the ipod, i've got it running from it's headphone jack, split into rca's. So both are fighting for the single input on the back. I thought about finding the power wire for the xm box, but the only wires running from the tuner to the radio other than the rca's are what looks like a huge S-video cable. So, i could try and put a switch on the rca's running from the xm, or buy the XA-300 which looks like it will solve the problem completely. ttocs on 12/29/2006 10:22:19 that S-video is the data cable that goes between the deck and the XM unit. Follow that cord down and see if there where it plugs in, and if there is another plug in that looks the same and is labelled "output". You could wire a switch up to the power wire for the xm unit. cplkittle on 12/29/2006 10:35:21 The XM integrates into the factory radio and the radio controlls the XM correct? and the Ipod you just piggybacked onto the XM RCA inputs. The aux in adapter will work, or you can use the XA110IP http://www.crutchfield.com/S-KkIjj0LxKSp/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?i=158XA110IP it's only about $50. This should daisy chain through the XM via that big Svideo cable you mentioned and will allow the radio to charge the Ipod and controll it from the deck itself. I would make sure the Ipod is compatible first, I don't know what type of Ipod you have. BenReilly on 12/29/2006 15:34:42 cplkittle, you were correct. I think buying that is going to be my best bet, Thanks for all the help ! ! ! Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
