OT: Colo's super Blizzard

Holy Defacation!! All of my home state is being pounded by snow!! I can't even open my front or back door. Worst of all, there is no soda in the house. There is three feet of snow on my front porch, (you can crack the door) and we have shoveled three times today! Somehow by the way the wind is blowing, it is blowing all of the snow in our front porch. If we hadn't shoveled there would probably be 8-10 feet of snow there.

I have never felt clastrophobic before, but this is nuttier than squirrel dung. Northeren Colorado is at a stop. Looking out my window, I can tell nobody has driven by in at least 1.5 hours. Anybody else here in Colo, Falling victim to the same storm?

Also, my car is totally bureid in snow. The snow is level with my windows, and my brother's Bimmer is in the same situation. My sister's Nissan got stuck in front of our house, We had to push it out afer rocking the car, pushing and digging out half the street to get room to get up to speed.

I was at a place I volunteer at, and I was Shoveling there loading dock. By the time I had finished the whole thing, the side I started on was already covered by at least inch of this cold wet white substance.

If anybody is taking a skiing trip to the Rockies, now would be the time. There won't be snow like this for another 10 years here.

Got White Christmas!!!

Dairy of a Snow Shoveler:

December 9:

We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the Whole World?

Moving here was the best idea I've ever had. Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks. This afternoon the snow plow came along and covered up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got to shovel again. What a perfect life.

December 12:

The sun has melted all our lovely snow. Such a disappointment.
My neighbor tells me not to worry; We'll definitely have a white Christmas. No snow on Christmas would be awful! Bob says we'll have so much snow by the end of winter, that I'll never want to see snow again. I don't think that's possible. Bob is such a nice man. I'm glad he's our neighbor.

December 14:

Snow, lovely snow! 8" last night. The temperature dropped to -20. The cold makes everything sparkle so. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is the life!
The snowplow came back this afternoon and buried everything again. I didn't realize I would have to do quite this much shoveling, but I'll certainly get back in shape this way. I wish I wouldn't huff and puff so.

December 15:

20 inches of fresh snow forecasted. Sold my van and bought a 4x4 Blazer. Bought snow tires for the wife's car and 2 extra shovels. Stocked the freezer. The wife wants a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I think that's silly. We aren't in Alaska, after all.

December 16:

Ice storm this morning. Fell on my butt on the ice in the driveway putting down salt. Hurt like craztytoo. The wife laughed for an hour, which I think was very cruel.

December 17:

Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go anywhere. Electricity was off for 5 hours. I had to pile the blankets on to stay warm.
Nothing to do but stare at the wife and try not to irritate her.
Guess I should've bought a wood stove, but won't admit it to her. God I hate it when she's right! I can't believe I'm freezing to death in my own living room.

December 20:

Electricity's back on, but had another 14" of the damn stuff last night. More shoveling. Took all day. Dang snowplow came by twice.
Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but they said they're too busy playing hockey. I think they're lying. Called the only hardware store around to see about buying a snow blower and they're out. Might have another shipment in March. I think they're lying. Bob says I have to shovel or the city will have it done and bill me. I think he's lying.

December 22:

Bob was right about a white Christmas because 13 more inches of the white **** fell today, and it's so cold it probably won't melt till August. Took me 45 minutes to get all dressed up to go out to shovel and then I had to pee. By the time I got undressed, pissed and dressed again,
I was too tired to shovel. Tried to hire Bob who has a plow on his truck for the rest of the winter, but he says he's too busy. I think the asshole is lying.

December 23:

Only 2" of snow today. And it warmed up to 0. The wife wanted me to decorate the front of the house this morning. What is she...nuts???
Why didn't she tell me to do that a month ago? She says she did but I think she's lying.

December 24:

6". Snow packed so hard by snowplow, l broke the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack. If I ever catch the son of a b****h who drives that snowplow, I'll drag him through the snow by his yarballs. I know he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then he comes down the street at a 100 miles an hour and throws snow all over where I've just been! Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas carols with her and open our presents, but I was busy watching for the snowplow.

December 25:

Merry Christmas. 20 more inches of the !=GD@x@!x!x! slop tonight. Snowed in. The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. God I hate the snow! Then the snowplow driver came by asking for a donation and I hit him over the head with my shovel.

December 26:

Still snowed in. Why the hell did I ever move here? It was all HER idea. She's really getting on my nerves.

December 28:

Warmed up to above -50. Still snowed in. THE WOMAN is driving me crazy!!!

December 29:

10 more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or it could cave in. That's the silliest thing I ever heard. How dumb does he think I am?

December 30:

Roof caved in. The snow plow driver is suing me for a million dollars for the bump on his head. The wife went home to her mother. 9" predicted.

December 31:

Set fire to what's left of the house. No more shoveling.

January 8:

I feel so good. I just love those little white pills they keep giving me. Why am I tied to the bed?

Merry Christmas everyone and to all a good night,
Swez

Thats awesome. The last entries sound like how it all started for me

cplkittle on 12/21/2006 21:12:05
I love that!! I read it word for word every year.

ShootuhMcBustaCap on 12/21/2006 21:14:15
Yeah It's nuts here. I just dug through huge amounts of snow to free the poor ghetto hoopty bucket. Cold. Buth there is no snow plow guy here.....for better or worse.

swez on 12/21/2006 22:56:12
Yeah, when we get a good dump of snow here, most get their drives and walks all cleaned off and within an hour, here comes the plowguy to screw up the drive approach.

This year, I have a plan to foil his antics too. An gonna park my Hoopty Ghetto Bucket long wise across the driveway approach and see how that works out. With luck, he'll plow right into the car and I'll sue the city for replacement cost of the vehicle.

The car will be off the roadway and I won't get sited for snow removal impediments. Hummmm, this could actually work out nice as the car would be covered under Comprehensive Insurance and only $1200.00 damage would be enough to total it. Then the city pays too... a decent car for 2007??? LOL

Wicked? I prefer the terms Crafty, Cunning and Shrewd.

Vic, I do have some brains... just sit on them a bit too long is all. ;-)

I miss snow, looks like it is time for a drive up to flagstaff for a day again........

ShootuhMcBustaCap on 12/22/2006 20:40:41
Crafty was replaced by wicked to to my newfandangled slang terms of our youth. My bad........

swez on 12/22/2006 21:02:14
I get it.. sorta hood slang like when someone says they have a "sick" system. Meaning, it rocks, it pounds and over the top. hehe

It's kinda funny how slang changes from one generation to another. We all had/have our own private idioms too. Ever heard the term "Hinky"? I once had an older boss who used to say that all the time about taking checks from some of his less-desirable clientel. "If they look "hinky" run the check through the bank before closing out the sale". (Looks and acts like a gangsta... shifty, dishonest, a cheat ect.)

Was only 5 years younger than this guy, but he sure had a few strange slangs to toss out from time to time.

ShootuhMcBustaCap on 12/22/2006 21:13:26
Hinky? That's definetly one I have never heard. Had to read it twice to realize it wasn't "hickey." That's definetly a funny one.

Finally got all of the home's vehicles dug out, except the ugly van. It doesn't run anyway. Just kind of sits and uglies things up a little. Actually a lot. I have never shoveled so much in my life, if it snows like that again, I'll move somewhere warm and live out of the ghetto hoopty bucket. Slept in it in the cold before............

So Shoot, have ys been able to dig out and get mobile again? I see the Denver airport is back to normal flight schedules again.

I feel for the folks that get stranded in airports during very bad weather conditions. Having traveled a lot in the past for business, bad weather delays are never pleasant and some folks get downright ugly when flights get cancelled and schedules are all messed up for a few days.

It seems the best one can do is curl up with a good book or look for some interesting folks to chat and comiserate with. Might as well make the best of it as we cannot beat the weather, but just adapt.

I am mobile, but a lot of the state was or still is at a standstill. My sister's employer, a 7-11, has been out of regular for 2 days, and were, according to her, the last place to run out regular unleaded.

All of this is coinciding with the same 1 week period of Christmas, things like courts and other places like banks have been out of commission as well. Lunacy.

I'm so sick of snow! Never was a fan of the snow. But as it seems, everywhere I move that isn't in Colorado, seems to be worse. (I have lived in many states) Hopefully summer hits soon, sometimes we skip spring entirely. Crazy weather here.

swez on 12/24/2006 23:26:35
I agree with ya Shoot. Winter and snow are fine in small bites. It's nice to have a white Christmas and even a little fresh snow in January and February too. But some areas get hugh dumps all the way from November to April. No thanks... I like being outdoors too, but not in waist deep snow for 5-6 months of a given year.
