Alpine's PLV-7

Anyone else think this is pretty dang cool?
http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/products/product.php?model=PLV-7
six 7" cones all lined up with a coil at each end. There are rods that run through each driver and are controlled from the coils at each end. The casing is offset so that you see the front of all the cones from the front of the box, which is a bandpass by the way. The rear of the cones is opened to the rear chamber. The coolest part is that although lined up linearly, they are not isobaic in a push pull configuration. Instead, the rods that attach to every other cone pass through the rest. In actuality, they fire toward each other.
The enclosure has a built in amp as well.

I read an article about it in the feb 07 issue of car audio and electronics. I was really impressed. That was a balzy move for alpine, but it paid off for them. I would really like to know if anyone has heard one of these, and their thoughts.

it is neat and I had to hook it up as soon as the shop got its first one. Myself and the other installers were not horribly impressed with it to be honest. It sounds like a descent factory sub, but for the price??????????

The price in my opinion would depend on the sound. Alpine claims the output to be comparable to 2 12" subs.
Since it is a sub, an enclosure, and an amplifier, the price seemed to be in the right range.. but again it would depend on the sound.
