just wonderin if anyone has tried putting 6x9s in a sub box, would the pressure be too much for the cones of the 6x9s?just for a lil info have box built(yes using computer program)with 6 chambers two 10' audiobahn high excursion subs each powered w/ an a8002t per sub. the box itself is ported.sure seems a lill excessive for a toy t100 reg cab but someone had to do it. i dont mind telling you i broke my back gettin it in there either. i was just thinkin some 6x9s would round out the sound nicely .there is a 1400 watt pyle under the seat runnin 4 sets of tweeters and a pair of 6 1/2s. k maybe i'm braggin a lil now, but any ideas on the 6x9s would be appreciated. LFV Replies (7) Ash on 12/18/2006 19:47:34 I take it this is an SPL setup? You say 4 sets of tweeters (8 total)? Louis, try to break down your paragraphs down into different topics to help clarify it a bit, please. Thanks louisypher on 12/18/2006 21:01:52 sorry. the main question is , is it possible to put the 6x9s in the same chamber as the subs , or would the pressure be too great for them? louisypher on 12/18/2006 21:03:20 oh ,no . 2 sets of tweeters 4 total, titanium to get the most out of the highs. cplkittle on 12/18/2006 21:55:04 The 6x9s would not last long in the same chamber and would take away from the sub. Actually, they would probably shred with the first bass note. Would definitely be fun to watch, but not productive. swez on 12/19/2006 02:56:08 Agreed!!! If you want full range speakers in the back, best to use 6x9 wedge boxes and keep them totally isolated from your subwoofers. If you mounted full range speakers inside the sub box w/o separate sealed enclosures, the subs will destroy them in no time at all. Swez Victor on 12/19/2006 09:09:36 am just putting here, something interesting to think about... If all the speakers in the same chamber are in phase one can definitely have multiple drivers in the same enclosure.. then why not the 6x9's too...?? well the issue here is that with speakers producing different frequency range it is not possible to maintain a uniform back wave that is thrown inside the chamber, .. f or ex.. when the sub is playing a low frequency and the cone moves out with the positive phase, the speaker does not necessarily come into the positive phase as the 6x9's produce a different freq and move only when freq's above its crossover point come into the signal. And the pressure a sub creates with low freq is too much for the speaker to handle that produces a different freq itself, and moves much less air than the sub.. Hence it becomes compulsary to isolate the speakers producing a different freq.. You can use 10 different sizes of subs in a sealed box, producing the same freq, but with the proted box this does not become possible as the TS parameters of all the subs differ and each needs a differnt specs enclosure.. Hence the ported enclosure also plays a role in not allowing you to put them in the same enclosure if you want clean sound... Victor... louisypher on 12/19/2006 11:13:56 good points.unfortunately , space is at a premiun in this situation.(not a whole heck of a lot of room behind the seat).may just have to put some sixes in their own box , atop the sub box. or heres an idea, will eights work as mids to fill the sound , in place of the 6x9s. never really messed with them since they arent as prevalent in the market. oh. but the parameter will be different.... is that right?
