1992 Nissan 300zx 2+2 N/A My buddies car's amps are all blown so none of the speakers work, and hopefully I can get a full system soon. Just wondering how hard the wiring is gonna be? You should get some bigger gauge cables etc. for all the speakers to make them sound better right? Is it hard taking all the old wires out and somehow putting in the new ones? I'm a little distressed about it because it looks like a pita to get the wires from the rear all the way to the front and behind the center console Another question: My car had some panasonic cd changer in the rear trunk, but I took it out because the cartridge was missing and it was old... but there's a wire that connects to it and I think it goes all the way to the front of the car. How do I get this wire out? One more question: How do you go about installing tweeters? If I cut the hole off center on the door trim... it's going to annoy me forever... On the topic of installing speakers, how do people usually go about installing a 6 1/2" speaker on the doors? Do they use a wood bracket and basically enlarge the holes? Any example pics? THANKS! Replies (2) Ash on 12/10/2006 08:54:48 Lotta questions there bud, but I believe we can answer them. The best way (not the simplest) to install/remove wires is to remove the front/rear seats and run/trace them under the carpet as this is how it might have been done if a pro worked on it. Simpler: If there is enough room under the carpet between the seats and door, it can be done that way. Removing only the trim panels as necessary. I don't recommend it though as you "really" have to look out for any obstructions that may hinder the install or worse, may cause damage to the wiring by pinching it. The simpler way can be actually harder if there is tight space to work within. The seats should only require a few bolt removals.... As far as component system install, which it sounds like your talking about, your almost there. For proper performance, sometimes a baffle will have to be made to brace the midwoofer to the door. The type depends on the install. In my Blazer, there were no door speakers, but there was a odd shaped opening near the lower front behind the door panels. I cut away part of the door panel and used carpeted 3/4" mdf with fatmat sandwiched between the outerdoor skin and the baffle. The mdf provided the extension I needed to keep from cutting the metal to fit it. I could have used thinner material for better cosmetics but it's not to late as a change may be in order anyway. Just a example, but as you see it depends on the car and the speakers your going to install. You may or may not have room if there's already a opening. Your just going to have to get in there and play around to see. However that is the basics. You must give the midwoofer a solid foundation just as you would a subwoofer. As for the tweeter, the most optimal places to mount them is close to the midwoofer or on/in the A-pillars facing the windshield anyway. So that should eliminate that problem.... Just use some double sided sticky tape to temporarily place them to see where they will sound best to you. Try different angles as well if they are swivels. lilschtive on 12/10/2006 12:41:52 wow, great, thanks a ton. that really will help me.
