Here are a few respectable choices, although all are not under $100, they are close. The most important thing to remember is that other than an educated decision on what brand to buy, money is a big factor in what you will get (you get what you pay for). Kicker 15" comp VR 500w rms http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-KICKER-COMP-VR-CVR15-4-15-1000w-CAR-SUBWOOFER-SUB_W0QQitemZ270066331023QQihZ017QQcategoryZ58035QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Polk Audio Momo 15" 400w RMS http://cgi.ebay.com/POLK-AUDIO-MOMO-MM2154DVC-15-SUB-WOOFER-SUBWOOFER-NEW_W0QQitemZ250059297281QQihZ015QQcategoryZ18804QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem MB Quart reference 15" 300w MAX power http://cgi.ebay.com/MB-QUART-RWE352-REFERNECE-SERIES-15-SUB-NEW_W0QQitemZ290059468247QQihZ019QQcategoryZ18804QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem This should get you started. These are reputable brands, but at the same time, some of these are the entry level models. I wouldn't expect any glass to break from any of these unless you drop it on the window. You should be fairly satisfied though. raulbustos on 12/9/2006 23:03:55 hey some nice choices thank you a lot anybody else got some sudjestions anythig will be apreciated raulbustos on 12/10/2006 23:24:19 okay well i showed him the tree subs he said they were okay but he still asked for some more options cplkittle on 12/11/2006 00:55:17 I could spend all day giving you ebay links, but I am kinda limited by a $100 budget. especially with a 15" sub. I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for, what power range, etc.. raulbustos on 12/11/2006 12:18:59 well im not sure exactly what power range he wants i dont think he knows what power range he wants. im asuming 300 to 500 rms would be good. his words to me when he asked me for some help was he wants some thing that bumps i told him id search a little and show him what i found raulbustos on 12/14/2006 00:58:59 any body else got any thing cplkittle on 12/14/2006 01:44:38 Honestly, I don't think anyone else is going to respond. Alot of people ask for opinions, and what sub is better or what should I buy. When suggestions are made and more are asked for the conversation usually dies. I'm not trying to be rude, but it takes alot of time to research ebay and reply with prices and links and stats for the suggested equiptment. We are here to help people with technical questions and an occasional opinion. We do this on our own time and we do it for free. I see that you have donated to the site and I appreciate that. I'm just saying that we do this for fun, and trying to find a 15" sub and compatable amp without a budget or much of an idea of how much power is wanted, is just not that fun. Let's try this from a different angle... If you can answer most of these questions, I gurantee this will go a little faster and more productive. What type of music does your friend listen to? (trying to find out what type of bass is desired.. maybe a 15 is not right for the application) What size amplifier are you looking to buy? (remember, the bigger the amp, the bigger the power wire and the more you will have to spend to feed it - wires, caps, batteries, alternator) Very importantly, what is your overall budget? (this will narrow down the search from 1,000,000 combinations to 8 or 12) Do you have a box already or are you going to buy one? If you have one, is it sealed, ported, bandpass, free air?? (this will determine what type of sub you need) Is this a temporary setup? (there are only two kinds.. temporary which means you are going to buy something better later, or permanent which means you want something nice and are going to build on as you can afford it) Any other information will also help out.. what kind of radio do you have, are you planning on buying an amp for the mids and highs, does it matter if it is used, is there any certain brand you are looking for, are you going to change anything about the setup in the near future... raulbustos on 12/14/2006 09:59:28 first off i would like to say i always apreciate any help that any body gives i have learned a lot since i first came to this site. i also have noticed how much efort some people make to keep this site a true resource there is a lot of kind skilled people here willing to help just to help. i am more knowedgable about car audio than ever before. but one thing that is for sure i dont know everything and i know a lot of the people here have a lot more experience and knowledge than i as for i still have a lot to learn if i ever hope to achieve a level as high as you GOLDS. this has been a verry interesting hobby for me that turned into a passion and i always love to read anyhting i can find about caraudio and i would like to just say thank you all for the help! okay now for this guy lets see first off he likes a lot of rap total budjet of around 400-500 more or less . the way i see it around 150 for a sub 150-200 for an amp. some where in the range of 300-500 rms. as far as a box he wants to buy one but again he dosent even know there is difereny kinds of boxes. i believe a ported box would do well for him but yall tel me as far as i can tell this guy saved for about a year to get this money i would say this is a more permanent set up. now judjing from our conversation mids and highs are not important at all. and just so you know i believe this is for an 80's el camino. as far as the hu im not sure at all i believe i herd him say aftermarket though. if you need any more info please fell free to ask and once again thank you for everything ps i personaly loved this coment it made me laugh "I wouldn't expect any glass to break from any of these unless you drop it on the window." cplkittle on 12/14/2006 19:53:08 Is there any chance he might build a box? I personally do not like prefab boxes... most are tuned in the 40Hz range.. I personally think a 15 sounds better in a 32-34 Hz box. If not we'll find something for him.. More later.. ShootuhMcBustaCap on 12/14/2006 20:19:00 Kit, I was waiting for you to pimp out the Diamond equipment, and personally I couldn't agree more on the D3 series. For the cost, this stuff is wicked. Can't wait to buy some for myself....... cplkittle on 12/14/2006 21:09:55 The D3 series, for a long time, has been the ballsiest entry level line I have ever seen. Of course now there is a D1 series, which are alot cheaper made, but much less expensive as well. Diamond audio's homepage is only updated once a year, so I don't think there is much information out there on them yet.. but they are on the market. I don't know if they have amplifiers in the D1 line or not. Two years ago, when i worked for a Diamond audio dealer, I got to sit in and listen to the black and yellow Diamond denali. That was a dream come true. It was probably the neatest experience in car audio I have ever had. ShootuhMcBustaCap on 12/14/2006 21:43:33 That does sound like fun. I have seen a D1 or D2 line on ebay of subwoofers, they had a grayish silverish cone, and went for $120 for the pair of twelves. They are definitely some ballsy entry level subs, their power handling is up there with top end Infinity gear, and they are less expensive. I have been in love with Diamond ever since I installed a ful D3 system. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
