Amp settings: LPF: 80-100 Hz. Bass Boost: 0 - +6 dB max. Gain settings: The HU mentioned has a 2.0 volt output. Match this to the gain settings on your amplifier and adjust from there until you get maximum clean bass at 80% of HU's max volume. Gain: See manual pages 9 and 10 for proper amp gain and LPF adjustments: http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/575/575351S.PDF ************************************************************************** I cannot find the manual for you specific Alpine model, but this should be pretty consistant with the IVA - D310. The audio set up features begin on page 37 of the following manual: http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/500/500IVAD310.PDF This HU employs a very complex Parametric EQ system for audiophile level adjustments. Reading the manual carefully and then adjusting each function is tedious and requires a good deal of patience. However, the 10 preset factory EQ choices are often adequate for the average listener and custom P-EQ settings can be avoided. The same can be said for the Crossover features in this HU. Just defeat this feature and allow the amp filters to do the job for you. NOTE: This HU has many sweet features available, but are also very complex for the average "plug and play" user. To get the full performance from this HU, one will spend hours reading and tweaking the various adjustments this unit has available. If you purchased this at a local shop, consider going back to them for a step-by-step tuitorial on how to get the most from this product. Other wise, plan on hours of experimentation if you want to use all the functions available in this player. Good luck, Swez dadeboi305 on 11/27/2006 18:52:54 thanx swez ill give a shot cause i really want kno how to do these things work instead of depending on someone else,u kno how that works out! its nice to kno that there is some one on here that knoz what there talking bout ill get back to when i figure it out or if i have any questions dadeboi305 on 11/27/2006 19:21:38 1. speakers are inclosed and you can see them through the plexi glass 2. 3.gain 4.trailblazer (suv) swez on 11/27/2006 21:37:34 OK, this is a Bandpass sub enclosure. They are good for loud bass, but not the best in overall accuracy or transient response. Basically, a BP enclosure has 3 main features: 1. One part is sealed 2. The other is ported 3. The ports are tuned to a limited range of bass frequencies The upside... This box is very efficient and can produce high SPL levels of bass in a very limited band of bass notes. (Band pass) The Con side... BP boxes really boost a narrow band of bass notes between 45-60 Hz. The rest of the low bass (35-45 Hz is blocked, as are frequencies above ~60 Hz.) FYI: A big drawback on BP box designs, is the lack of hearing when subs are breaking up with heavy distortion. The first general sign of trouble, is a blown sub. Keep that in mind when you dial up the power OK! Swez cplkittle on 11/28/2006 00:52:53 Quote: The first general sign of trouble, is a blown sub. I got a chuckle out of that one.. but it is true. I had a 4th order with one 10" sub in it and that devil just kept on pounding, no matter how much I turned it up. It was amazing!! The box was 1.5 cuft sealed and 4.5 cu ft ported tuned at about 32Hz. I can't begin to tell you how loud this thing was.. Then one day it quit, and I saw through the plexi window, a gray fog so thick that I could not see the inverted sub. Then the tale tale odor...... The uh oh smell.
