Hi i have a nissan primera 1.6lx and my friend is a speaker designer so he built me a speaker with 2 10" twin coil subs.. the problem here lies as when the ignition is switched to ACC from OFF the speakers each make a slight pop. and then again when the engine is started.. i have a kenwood kdc mp3 player 4x45w with a 4channel 800w amp. both the preouts are used. does anyone know how to stop the speakers popping Cheers Rachel. HU should be grounded to firewall, floorpan or metal bracket inside the dash. Amplifier needs to be well grounded to the floor pan. Both connections are bare metal grounds. Here, a seatbelt bolt will often work fine for the amp. Just remove the bolt, sand off all paint and rust and then attach the ground wire for the amp off that bolt and washer. FYI: When doing electrical wiring in a vehicle, disconnect the NEG battery terminal wire, before you begin your work. Doing these minor adjustments, should eliminate the pops. If you still hear a little pop, adjust amp sensitivity levels until the pop is gone and you still have clean audio content off your amp channels to speakers. Good luck, Swez thatloid on 11/24/2006 14:10:10 Im sorry,, thanx for the info but i dont know what HU is so all i do is get a cable from the seat belt mount and where do i connect it , onto the amp..? thatloid on 11/24/2006 14:14:45 there are three terminals on my amp.. B+ GND and REM,, ,what i meant, do i connect it to GND??? swez on 11/24/2006 21:12:42 On your amp, the GND wire lug needs to be connected to a good, clean grounding location. (Like a seatbelt bolt as mentioned earlier) The gage of wire used for grounding, should be matched to the amp power the amplifier draws. In this case, a #8 gage wire should suffice. Just keep it short as possible. (3 feet or less is ideal) HU = Radio/CD/MP3 player ect. (Head Unit) There's a black wire on the harness of your Kenwood MP3 player. This wire should be connected to a good metal ground in or near the dash. The normal harness ground that came with the factory radio is often tied into the dash panel instrument cluster and not always as reliable and noise free. Hope that clears up the noise, (90% of the time, it does) Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
