We often recommend an Aftermarket wiring harness when switching for factory to aftermarket HU's. These take much of the guesswork out of wiring and make the job much easier too.

Most cost about $10.00 and you can get them, (Vehicle specific) almost anywhere car audio products are sold. (Wal-Mart, Target, BB, CC and local car audio shops)

What aftermarket radio are you planning to install here?

It a cheap dual xd6100, but the wires coming from the dash have all been cut.

my book only goes to 96' so be sure to test everything before hooking things up.

constant - wht/grn or blk/red
ignition blk/white
drivers front - pink
pass front - lt green
drvs rear - black
pass rear - white

Use a voltmeter or testlight to test for power wires.
Test speaker wires by putting a battery(AA-9v) and the speaker that is/or should be hooked up to those wires will make a popping noise.

Hummm, this may a bit easier when using a voltmeter and the inatall manual as a guide. Ttocs have you the car wiring color code. Here's a copy of the Dual XMP-6000. It may not have all the same features, but the wiring will often be consistant within the same brand:

http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/070/070XMP6000.PDF

constant - wht/grn or blk/red = Yellow wire on HU
ignition blk/white = Red wire on HU
drivers front - pink = White speaker pairs
pass front - lt green = Gray speaker pairs
drvs rear - black = Green speaker pairs
pass rear - white = Violet speaker pairs

The Black wire is your main ground. (Ground to metal in dash pocket)
The Blue wire is for power antenna or remote amp turn on. (Cap if not used)
There is one pair of RCA outs on this HU for sub amp use. Cap them if you are not using a sub amp at this time too.

See page 3 of the manual, for wiring info on this HU. If you did not get a copy of the manual with your HU, print out the whole thing and keep it for your references.

NOTE: Once you have identified the proper wires in the factory harness and mate them to the HU harness, use Red/Pink barrel crimp connectors to attach wire sets. You can get #16-18 gage crimp connectors at any good autoparts store. All you'll need are wire strippers and a decent crimping tool. See the video link below for install tools and methods used by Pro Installers for ideas on how to do your own install.

Here's a video that walks through the basic steps and tools needed:

Good luck and welcome to CK,

PS According to Crutch, this HU should drop right into the present factory cage with no additional tools or mounting brackets. That means a very easy install and no extra purchases.

do i connect the +12 ignition & constant wires together or i have to choose one ,and which is better ,explain to me.

It's best to use the RED wire on your HU harness to ACC/IGN circuit in your vehicle (Ignition blk/white) so you can turn the HU off when you remove the key.

The Yellow wire has a constant +12 volts to keep your station memory, clock and other features powered when the car is shut off.

Tech Note: Some guys do connect RED & YELLOW to a +12 constant line if they wish to use to the HU w/ the key out. Just don't forget to turn the HU off when you leave the car parked for a few days, as it can drain the battery down.

Thanks ,i got the stereo hooked up and working fine ,but why do my bass .treble and other settings i choose always reset when i turn the stereo back on ,how can i make it save my settings so i dont have to set them all the time?

you have some incorrect wiring if the head unit keeps losing memory.

don't tie your red/yellow wires together on the head unit. run the yellow wire to the white/green wire, and the red wire to the black/white wire.

If you have reversed the Red and Yellow wires on the HU, (to factory wiring harness) this will happen. The ACC/IGN circuit loses power when the key is turned off and all basic control functions in the HU revert back to default settings and you'll have to start all over.

Do the proper wiring steps as outlined by ttocs and UK and this problem will be resolved. Pay close attention to the advice given and follow the directions as noted and all will be fine. These guys are Professional Installers and know their business well. Try again... and print out a copy of the wiring guide as you work.

Good luck,
Swez

PS If this does not correct the situation, time to get a Multimeter and probe the factory harness for the correct wiring leads.
