Hi guys! i need a opinion from the Pros, to validate my installation... Here i come: Once, in a very far country named Venezuela, one kid purchased a Panasonic CQ-CD7001 in-dash dvd player for a older and creepy 99 explorer. He put his new and shiny dvd in hands of "professional installer". Result: a big disaster. The beast fried the dvd. Obviosly the salesman dont recognized the warranty, and the only remedy was buy another dvd player, a pioneer AVH-5700DVD. but in this time the wise guy decided to install himself, at risk to fry the player. Connection: the +12 and ACC wires from player i connected to +12 continuous of the car. the gnd, brake (ops! barely legal here) and remote i connected to gnd of car. the front lefr/right, rear left/right i connected to their respective wires on car. apparently all its working fine, but i have to doubts: are correct to put +12 and acc on +12 of the car? are correct to put gnd, brake and remote on the gnd wire of the car? This chapter have a lesson for me: if you want the things well done, sometimes, do it yourself. in a pair of weeks i have planned to upgrade the installation with a amplifier, and begin to use the pre-outs of the player, but for now, thats are a another story. I will appreciate any help from the pros. Thanks! Replies (4) cybersailor420 on 11/16/2006 10:23:45 WARNING: REMOVE REMOTE WIRE FROM GROUND!!!!!!! This wire sends out a low voltage signal to an amplifier to tell it turn on and off with the head unit. swez on 11/16/2006 10:59:55 If you want to have the player work with or without the key, ACC/CONT +12 volts is an option. Just be sure to turn the player off when you leave the vehicle or it can drain your battery if left on for long periods and not driving the vehicle. Heed the warning above! DO NOT GROUND THE REMOTE WIRE!!! If not used now, just cap or tape it off until amp is ready to be installed. Swez BernieSF on 11/16/2006 19:11:12 Ops! what can i say? begginers mistake?
