This is a safety feature that does not allow one to use the Video section of the player while the car is in motion. When the parking brake is applied, this completes a circuit that allows full DVD player functions to work.

That issue has been addressed here before and in general terms, there is a "work around" for it. However, it's best to wire as noted in the install manual. It has been mentioned that if one is caught playing video content while driving and is stopped by law enforcement officers, they often issue a stiff fine, if the officer determines the video to be a distraction to the driver. Are you willing to take that chance?

This feature is often accepted for rear seat passengers, where the monitor is not in view of the driver. (head/back rest monitors are OK)

FYI: That is a 4,000 pound car and has a very "sloshy" suspension system. It's a good highway cruising car with a soft ride, but very poor responsivness to evasive manuvers and hard cornering. (Unless major suspension mods are done) I drive one too and for a daily driver, not a bad ride. It's roomy, lots of nice creature comforts and good power when needed. (205 HP version 3800, V-6)
